Can't escape with the american in EW missions ?

Can i escape with the american on the boat? I try to run fast to the boat but he drives too slowly and we were shot down... help plz :mad:??

No, it's sripted that way. You have to kill him to continue the mission.

Hey, sorry for a bit of necro, but this is exactly the thread I need.

I run into the same problem, with GL4 and Zeus AI mods on,

I'm in Balota, with the Spetznaz. We clear the village, the Russians tarry in the village, I get to the boat, shoot the sniper that spawns near the harbour, then get on the boat and before we have a chance to escape, the pilot and Lew spawn near the hangar, quite obviously peppering my defenceless arse with lead, as I stare harmlessly at the slow-driving marine.

Is killing him really the only solution?

I didn't shoot him. But I didn't go near him either. The russians took care of him for me.

Right, I've sorted it out. Turns out I misunderstood Lew's message over the radio. When he said "kill that American", I basically thought he was backstabbing me, instead of ordering me to remove that guy preventing our group from taking the boat.

Apart from that - an absolutely brilliant mission. So fantastic, that it was almost unbelievable.

I agree. The problem with "kill the American" is very misleading and the only weakness in a very good campaign.
