theavonlady 2 Posted April 19, 2002 ******* WARNING - SPOILERS ******* Aculaud, this is a fun mission. I just played the winter version. I had the same problem as Tovarish. Went to the burned out town SW of the dropoff, waited and waited near the church but no one ever showed up. At some point, I heard shooting from the east and decided to investigate. That's when I can across this nice base loaded with Soviet sitting ducks! My assistant was all too happy to score his own points and we managed to kill everyone inside and outside the base. We took the BMP and did some sightseeing further east and southwards. Lots of attractions. Towards the SE coast, I came across a big armor base and got a message to call in the artillery. Checking the action menu, while driving the BMP, there was no artillery call action available. I don't know if this is an OFP bug or one that has to be corrected in your mission. Rampaging through a packed enemy base in a BMP is not something you get a chance to do every day. Those tanks and troops were angry (but they missed me). Aculaud 0 Posted April 19, 2002 ok, this is all good stuff The combat ambiance is going, to tell the truth, i had trouble listening to it over and over too. I'll just insert ambiant explosions at certain points on the map. I want some sort of ambiant combat, because this whole island is supposed to be under siege (For those of you that read the overview). Ok, most people arent having problems meeting the contact, so i'll just ask Avon and Tovarish. What exactly are you doing? There are only two waypoints in the entire mission. The first is there from the start, it should be to your left about 25 meters, and it says "Meet with ranger squad". After you hit that, and talk to them, the other waypoint is in the town. It says "Rendezvous with Resistance contact." You have to actually hit that waypoint in order to start the sequence of events where you get briefed. If you think some players might not get this, i could just insert an area trigger instead. And Avon, the fighting you heard in the distance was actually a bug. The ranger squad your supposed to link up with decided to attack a base on its own. I think i gave them too much skill or something, but they have a different waypoint now, so that shouldnt be a problem. This whole area isnt supposed to know that anyone is there, so i couldnt have places being attacked like that. Also, i dont know why you didnt have the option of calling in artillery. It could have been due to the fact that you were in a vehicle. I tested that part of the mission a lot, and it always works for me. Others have said it worked for them too. Dont know, though. I'll go back and test it again. Also, where did you find an empty BMP? ***EVERYONE, KEEP THIS IN MIND*** This is still just a beta. Thats why i'm asking everyone for their advice. I'll probably submit this to the OFP editing center, or the new OFPN\@WAR database after i'm done. Thanks to everyone who tried this, and told me what you thought. And special thanks to USsoldier11B for helping get that insertion problem worked out.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 19, 2002 Ok, fixed a lot of stuff! First, the combat ambiance has been replaced by a much better, more tolerable version. Just explosions, no stupid repetitive gunfire. And its off in the distance, as a pose to it being as if you were listening to it on headphones. Next, i figured out why Avon couldnt use my artillery. It was because you were in a BMP. When in a armored unit, you have more options on your action menu. These took up the space the artillery command was supposed to be in, and therefor, didnt allow the option to be given to you. Fixed that, now you cant get into any vehicles in this mission. Also, i fixed the meeting with the resistance contact. It works perfectly now. Ok, the floor is open. Bart.Jan 0 Posted April 19, 2002 -Is there some message to HQ when player in near base to south of resistance camp ? I got no message and I can not call artilery support even there are several armored targets. -About Krabava Goislav,is there some mention in debriefing if I kill him ? -Advanced request : I think you should add some alarm to each base. It looks strange when on one side of camp soldiers are being shot and on other side soldiers are sitting or wandering with their weapons on the back and armored vehicles are staying on their positions with crew in. There should be crew out of vehicles and when alarm sounds they should run to their vehicles and start guard around base. Same for soldiers. Their behaviour should change and they should start guarding. I think alarm is essential in each military base on island where enemy is somewhere on it. They can not know who is attacking them. It can be litlle group diversion action but it can be a shock action of enemy. In one base can be mechanized group assigned to help any base in danger. There should be some guarding mi-24 - it can prevent player from using captured bvp or tank. Base in full alarm, with reinforcement caming, can be reason for player to not shoot all units in base but to quickly move somewhere else.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 19, 2002 yeah, i actually did put in a patrolling Mi-24. Its set up so it has infinite fuel. And you cant get into vehicles anyway. I made it so youre locked out of everything, because it interfered with the artillery. I dont think id be able to put in the mechanized squad re-enforcements though, cause iv already used up all the groups for east that i can. I dont think the alarm will work either, because i dont really know how to make a general knowsabout command, so id have to make a trigger for every single enemy that could know about me. And yes, you do get a message when you assassinate Krabava. Not in the debriefing, but you are told when hes been killed. And you do get messages for both those locations as far as artillery goes. You can only call in artillery in one location though. you can identify things really well with your binoculars and right-clicking on the target.
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted April 20, 2002 I'm looking forward to this new version - will you post it here?
Aculaud 0 Posted April 20, 2002 If i can get black feather to host it for me, sure! Otherwise, i'll just submit it to the OFPEC, and link it to here. So, yeah i will.
Black_Feather 0 Posted April 20, 2002 yeah of course I'll host it its a great mission, just email me it again black_feather_uk@yahoo.com
Aculaud 0 Posted April 20, 2002 ok, then. Its settled. As soon as i get the intro\outro done, i will put it out there.
Bart.Jan 0 Posted April 20, 2002 You can use trigger west detected by east for alarm.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 20, 2002 yeah, i may play with that a little, but right now i'm working on getting the intro\outro scripted good.
theavonlady 2 Posted April 20, 2002 I'm confused. Is there a link for the updated mission or is it being sent only by email?
Aculaud 0 Posted April 20, 2002 lol, its not even done yet. Dont worry, it shant be long off. Right now, i'm getting the new intro\outro done. the mission itself is pretty much complete. When the package itself is done, i will post it.
IceFire 0 Posted April 20, 2002 Ok, what is kegeties winter pack and where can I get it? If I get it' it wont alter my game, will it? I mean like the missions or the campaign? I don't want everything to all of a sudden be in winter!
Aculaud 0 Posted April 21, 2002 Kegetys winter Kolgujev is just an addon like any other. You can get it from The OFP Editing Center. The addon includes a winter version of Kolgujev, and a new batch of soldiers for all sides in winter camo. The addon does not take anything away from your game, or change anything. It just adds all that stuff to what you have now. And incidentally, you will need Kegetys Winter Kolgujev version 1.2 to play the winter version of this mission. Benze 0 Posted April 21, 2002 I shot the resistance guy, stole his car, drove through the forest past the roadblock to the resistance camp, and got a score of 600 and a good report. Hmmm.
russin 0 Posted April 21, 2002 i take it this is a single player mission

Enigma65 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Great mission Aculaud! Â You have the look and touch of an artist. I have only gotten through the mission once successfully. Â The other times I've been killed though my own foolishness or that of my spotter. I'm basically now trying to figure out how to control the spotter better because I find at times he goes off on wild goose chases and gets himself into trouble. Â I try bailing him out and get shot. Â The last time I tried assisting him, I was skipping along a field and lo and behold, an enemy sniper took me out. Â Some black ops I am. Â Give us more. P.S. I'm just learning to do missions myself and your mission has given me some great ideas to try on my own creations.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 22, 2002 well, you're in luck, enigma! I'm just getting the finishing touches on the new version of this mission. Lots of stuff will be fixed, some new things added, etc. all i have to do is figure out the intro script, and its here. Thanks for checking it out, and i'm glad you enjoyed it. The updated (final) version will be here soon. P.S. And dont worry, i'v got pleanty more ideas where that came from.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Ok, the intros done, the outros done, iv done every thing i wanted to do to the mission itself. I'm making one last call out to anyone who wants to see something else put in. Let me know what it is you want to see done in it, cause i'm just about ready to export. I suggest you go play it again, and just do the first part where you meet the contact. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.<span id='postcolor'> Hmmm, I went there, I triple checked my location, and I waited for a few minutes with time set to 4X and saw no one, oh well, I'll try it  again when I have some free time.<span id='postcolor'> Well, I decided to play a little OFP between exams and tried your mission  again as you suggested, again, same problem, nothing happens when i get to the waypoint, this time I'll post a  couple of screenshots to prove it. BTW I'm using your original beta mission, on regular kolgujev.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Yeah, i really dont think the island makes any difference. Anyway, i changed it in the new one. Now its an area trigger that activates the sequence, and not the waypoint itself. You cant miss it now. And unless anyone can think of anything else they'd like to see here (i'm gonna wait about a day), then i'll export it, and submit it.
Tovarish 0 Posted April 22, 2002 Cool I look forwards to playing the finished product after exams this week. I played it a bit without meeting the contact, and it was still a damn good mission.
Aculaud 0 Posted April 22, 2002 in that case, this one should be excellant. Its adding up to a lot of hard work. I'll probably put it out there tomarrow.
