Mouse lags on map

Recommended Posts

I upgraded from a P-III 1GHz, 512MB SDRAM, Asus P3V4X, Ge-Force 3, ASC29160, SBLIVE platinum , WinME bla-bla-bla

to:

P-IV 1.8 0.13 with 512 RDRAM on a Intel 850MVL motherboard.

Now when I play OFP the mouse lags when looking at the map. The more I zoom out the worse it gets. I did'nt experience this before. This is a cat-astrophe when I'm making missions  mad.gif

Anyone else experienced this and figured out how to fix it?

btw OFP runs sweet as hell in-game at 1280x960, it's just when looking at the map the lag occur.

I even tried re-installing the game and DX8.

Re-installing Windows is out of the question smile.gif

Now this is strange indeed. I faced every stupid bug that this game seem to have but with the mouse only in the map editor?, no, that I havent! I dont think it is a question of DX8 or DX8.1 or whatsoever. It cant be a hardware conflict either. I have never heard anyone else talk about it! Did you check Avons FAQ Site, she has a lot of good solutions! Even about mouse lags!

Avon Lady FAQ

Strange! I guess you already tried reinstalling! Very strange!   confused.gif

All other games I've tried runs better than ever (Jedi Knight 2, CnC Renegade, Hitman, EECH to name a few)

Ofcourse it has to be OFP I get problems with ....the one game I play grrrrrr

Now I have noticed a friend of mine which recently bought a P-IV 1.7 also has this problem. Could this be a incompatability-issue between OFP and P-4 ? confused.gif

Suma? Where are you?

*Avon calling*, well actually she isn't here wink.gif

You should make sure prerender is set to 0. If you put it at, say, 30, it will render 30 frames before "receiving" the new mouse position. As you zoom in on the map, the framerate increases, therefore there will be more prerendering (=slower mouse response) . Just turn it off and it should be alright.

You have a wireless, optical mouse?I have a Microsoft wireless intellimouse explorer.I notice it lags when trying to make a mission.I mean it doesnt lag right away.It starts happening like right after i test the mission. It only happens when im working on tank mission.Like when im testing a battle, and i fire, all the smoke lags the game, then i exit out, then it starts lagging. So i just alt tab out and that fixes it. smile.gif

I would not set it to zero, I would set it to one.

In my personal experience with various recent NVIDIA drivers (28.32 and 28.90, which I kept, and various versions in between), I would get the blue Infinite Loop screen in OFP, and lockups in Windows Media player and DXDIAG when the prerender limit was set to 0.

Strangely enough, the same setting worked with V23.11 of the Detonator drivers. It drove me nuts when I first upgraded the video drivers, because they didn't seem stable for me while everyone else reported that they were the greatest thing since sliced bread. It took me a while to narrow it down to the prerender limit, and once I set it to one, my system was rock-solid again.
