Domination with AI on duala anywhere?

know what, ignore that :) going to try and mod it myself, one thing i need to ask tough, i do not get any side missions in this.... any idea why? No addons in use

There's no side missions enabled on that version I'm afraid - it was really just one of several example missions illustating how to convert Domination for use on other islands...

There are BOUND to be more updated versions around now - with sidemissions probably, and more than likely Ace versions too...

Your best bet is to check the online servers now and then - watch for a server hosting Dom Duala and join that server - their version of the mission will be downloaded to your local machine during the joining process...

in Win 7 you'll find it in...

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Arma2

*watch out - "AppData" is a "hidden folder", you'll need to enable viewing hidden files 'n folders in CP\Folder options first...

In there you'll find all the actual mission files for all the games you've played online...

Actually... now I think on it... back when I posted these missions and the accompanying conversion guide, there was a forum regular "vengeance1" who PM'd me a couple of times - he was busily adding sidemissions to that Duala varsion... I think he'd rewritten quite a few of them and got them working OK.

I'm not sure if he ever finished it or released anything though...

I'd read right thru the entire Duala thread - often, people post missions for islands within the island thread and don't bother with a seperate thread for them - you might find something posted there... plus - you could always PM vengeance1 and ask him if he ever finished the sidemissions-enabled version.

Or you could wait for Tanky to do the job - the bonus there being he knows what he's doing - so they'll all work nicely...

Or - you could do the sidemissions yourself!!! Which isn't that difficult really... it's really (mostly) just a question of collecting a suitable location coordinate for each particular mission, then tweaking a textfile with the new numbers, plus a little text editing for description... really straightforward and simple... it's mainly just that theres a lot of sidemissions, so it might take you a couple of evenings of concentration to do...

PM me if you're feeling brave, and I'll explain the process in detail - or maybe update my Dom Island Conversion thread to include basic sidemission relocation...

*edit* - It seems that too much Island Making is making me forgetful!

How could I have forgotten Bsilenced's Domination Ports! - oops!.... go check out Bsilenced's thread - he's done a LOT of work on different Dom versions... a couple of Duala ones there I think... well worth a look...

I don't have anything to do with domination, so can't say whether the one port has sidemissions enabled and the other one not and stuff.

But a small discussion here seems to start, where, just a few threads above/beneath there is what you apparently are searching for.

Try the one Bushlurker pointed to in his first post in this thread. I use that one and its quite good- the AI give as good as they get, and can get sneaky as well... took a section on a patrol near the border enroute to scout out an assigned target when we got surprised by an enemy APC and some footsloggers setting an ambush.

I set my machine to run it as MP LAN with my son and I playing (or if I have some m8s wanting to play, I'll set it Tinternet)...progress is saved and we have a blast.

Yeah - I neglected to mention that all the Dom versions I made are AI enabled versions - there should be the usual "AI Hut" on base with the usual recruitment options.....

Got my server going with a real nice Domination version i realy like, one problem, when lets say my jet service gets destroyed, im and engineer, arent i supose to be able to repair the building? Been running around it 15 min now, getting dizzy:o

Yesterday I go a version named "co@40_LSO_Dom_Duala_ACE_AI_4.1.06.isladuala"

The problem with this mission , don't know if this will happen with any Dom was that my AI was standing in front of an ammo crate and cried out of ammo.

I couldn't give a command to let them replenish at ammo box.

What would happen if I use in addition GL4?

Both these problems are down to the individual mission versions, guys...

You need to find out who made that version and ask them about specific issues like this...

The versions which I made and linked to previously were basically just "core" ports - the basic mission - working on different islands... all the basics, like AI recruiting, ammocrates and base repair, worked in those core versions - extras, like sidemissions didn't...

But these "core ports" were always only ever intended as a basis for other people to customise and tweak according to their own preferences...

Because of that, there's MANY different versions around now - almost every server running Domination has made changes of their own...

If you have a specific problem with a specific version - you really need to track down the person who customised that exact version and ask them...You'll often find that people will add their name or other details to the titles, or the mission briefing notes...

Also - if you're relatively new to Domination, its a good idea to search the Official and Original Domination Thread for any issues you may have... someone else has probably had the same problem already and answers may have been posted...

With Domination you'll basically run into two types of problem...

*Core issues with Domination itself - VERY rare now, Xeno has updated and improved to the point where basic Domination is VERY stable now - most of the time...

* New problems, which have been introduced as a result of someone customising or generally messing with the original Domination without exactly knowing what they're doing (like me usually)...

In this latter case - which is by far the most frequent cause of problems (especially if it involves ACE) - you need to find the person who did the customising and ask them...

If you're using one of the versions I posted in my conversions thread - with no further changes... then the best thing to do is post a question - in that thread - and you'll get a reply - even if it's just "eeeh... I dunno"...

Same with issues with bSilenced's ports - if its one of his versions you have a problem with, ask him in his thread...

There's enough Domination threads around for us to sooner or later attract unwelcome Mod attention for starting another extended Dom discussion thread here... So, my main advice is...

*Find who made your version and ask them about any issues - in their thread, if they have one...

*Get a dePBO tool, open your Dom mission up, and take a look! You'll find everything inside is pretty clearly labelled and not as complicated as you think - before you know it, you'll be making changes yourself! Domination isn't just a mission - it's a learning experience!
