Driver controls turret possible?

I am currently working with the S-tank...

but I ran into some problems, in OFP you could easily define a vehicle without a gunner, and the driver controled the turret, making it very aracadish but fun.. and same could be used to simulate the strv103 but in ArmA2 you always have turrets, so is there some way to get around this?

I was thinking if could define drivers optics and then use that for the "animation".. but don't know. So I am very open for suggestions, brainstorming.. not asking for a working example, just ideas.

IMHO it should be as simple as this: if a vehicle doesn't have a turret, don't define a turret.

but it have a gun that it can elevate with the ease of a turret..

can't have an action menu "rise gun 0.2 degrees" :)

I need a turret (So i can add the weapon memory points and so on), then I fix the turret so it cant rotate, just elevate. Then make the turret "the hull", atleast this is the idea.

The tank is ingame.. still no suggestions or any ideas from myself how to make this :/

there is some ways with kegetys tools i think to get location of the cursor.. i guess that could be used with a custom animation but then it will require perhaps too much of the user to actually use the addon :/ Edited by granQ

The "arcadish" driver=gunner-thing comes from Battlefield series. But actually it is gunner=driver. So maybe you can make a workaround to steer the vehilce with WASD keys while operating the turret with your mouse.

It is already implemented in some way when you are the gunner or the commander you can give directive commands to the driver using WASD.

You don't need a turret for this...

Go with Mad-h's suggestion. It actually shouldn't be too difficult to implement adjustable suspension.

I'm almost 100% sure there was a "single AI" (and human) M1 and T-72 in one of the editor upgrades for OFP. Might be worth having a look through them to see how they were configured?

Yea, I remember those. But this might have been made impossible to do as of ArmA. I remember Suma saying in a discussion about the Ka50 that the engine no longer supports moveable turrets for drivers.
