Whoatherefatty 10 Posted April 15, 2010 ladlon you were half way to getting airstrikes with your custom secop op mission. Check out this link and scroll down to using arty with secop manager headline. Follow the instructions and you can set up a radio trigger to give you an airstrike. In other words infinite air strikes with secop missions. Add an ambient combat module(with a good .sqf to adjust the parameters) and you have your custom combat mission with any units you want. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Artillery_Module
ladlon 10 Posted April 15, 2010 Ya, I've seen that page... It's a bit overwhelming for me, at my current level of scripting comprehension. I also had a Huey and A-10 coded in to join my team temporarily via radio command, which gave me a sort of 'airstrike/transport' support thing... kinda.... I know it all can be coded in, but spending all this time, researching, experimenting, learning and understanding it all is a bit much. Seems with every addition of code, there's a lot of tweeking, problem solving, etc... and I just have better things to do. If it were easier (for me), I'd do it... but I just can't invest that much time to sort through why things aren't working the way they should, reading through endless online discussions, etc. That's why I was glad to find the Mission Wizard, where someone coded it all for me. But, ya, ideally I'd love to get that functionality (airstrikes, etc) into the Editor, so I could further add to it, as I learn things. I may look at it again... It's just a bit much for me to all take in. I want to play, not screw around with code that I don't really understand, for weeks, and get frustrated. Thanks for the link. I'll look into it again sometime.
Whoatherefatty 10 Posted April 17, 2010 Trust me, I was once like you. Seriously it only looks overwhelming. If you read the part I mentioned you only have to copy and paste 1 line into the secop game logic and 1 line in a trigger and you have infinite airstrikes. ladlon 10 Posted April 17, 2010 Alrighty... I'll have a look when I have a nice chunk of time. I've certainly learned a lot since I first started, so maybe it'll be a bit more clear. I think part of the problem with the usual code samples was that I was never clear on WHERE to put them! In some samples I was shown, it never indicated where the code actually goes. It was like it was an assumed/understood thing, but I wasn't in that crowd. I guess I'll let you know if I get snagged on something. Thanks.
