Starting own games

Hi all,

Was just wondering.How can I start a multiplayer game for ofp.Thing is ,until now I've only played missions I found through Gamespy,meaning I connected to them while they were in the waiting phase.Then you more or less sit around for the better part of an hour in a chat room, waiting on the others to get in gear, only to find out the most don't have the required addons,the map gets changed,or the admins "buddy" shows up to late which all cause a reset.Then your right back to waiting in a chat room till everybody gets it together. I'm tired of this ,and I want to know how I can choose a mission from a server myself,do the admin thing and get the game going.

I looked at a list of servers and tried entering the different IP`s into gamespy but nothing ever showed up after I refreshed the list.

How do people start these missions.

OFP servers are not like "Public Pools". They are owned and paid for by Clans or Squads and they can run them as they please... Not much you can do about it.

I'm tired of this ,and I want to know how I can choose a mission from a server myself,do the admin thing and get the game going.

Squad members have a password they can use to "Login" as ADMIN, but non-squad members can also become ADMIN by a voting system. To vote yourself or someone else as ADMIN :

1. "/" to open chat window.

2. Type "#Userlist" that's #Userlist

3. Then using player number found in Userlist hit "/" key and type #vote admin xxx (where xxx is player number).

Servers have a vote threshold to meet which is usually 2/3rds of players logged on typically 2-3. If you are on the server by yourself 1 vote is all you need (yours).

Once you are ADMIN you can select any mission and start it when ever you want.

As an alternative if you have already played some missions on a server and want to play them off line do this:

1. Move mission files from MPCache folder to MPMissions folder.

2. Start OFP and select Multiplayer mode.

3. Hit "New" button in lower right corner, insted of "Join"

This puts you in HOST mode and you can play any misison file that you have already downloaded from servers locally without connecting to the server.
