*NOB*Perica 10 Posted March 11, 2010 I was wondering, if there will be any improvements in tank damage modelling? Right now, it's pretty simple, it relies mostly on texture changes. Any hints on improving this aspect of the game? Thanks in advance
max power 21 Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) So what you are looking for is polygon pieces being blown off? I think it would be possible using hidden selections but it seems complicated. Edited March 11, 2010 by Max Power
*NOB*Perica 10 Posted March 11, 2010 It doesn't have to be in many pieces, rather something that would make sense ie. if you hit tank in a turret, a nice hole or a dent, if you hit side of a tank, damaged tracks etc. You only get to see a damage when the tank is pretty much destroyed or it's about to be. Bad Company 2 hit it spot on.
wld427 1705 Posted March 11, 2010 Unfortunately arma and Arma2 have to sacrafice a few things in them to give you the rest of the stuff you enjoy in other games.
max power 21 Posted March 12, 2010 @TOP It probably could be done but it would involve a lot of fiddly work by someone to recreate all tanks with damaged components and then hide selections based on damaged areas, so I'm thinking the chances of it getting done for the vanilla unites are zero to none. Tanks are so much work to model, LOD, texture, and implement in the first place that it would take a pretty keen addon maker to add another step onto completion.
