SwiftyBoy 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Picked up the latest news stand version of PC Gamer, nice little preview of Operation Arrowhead. And an ArmA2 namecheck in the "downloads" section of the mag, highlighting some user-made missions. The previous month, they had some dude (in the "What are you playing" vox pop section) describing a tense bit of ArmA spec-ops action. While in that same issue, they had contributor and wargamer Jim Rossignol beseeching Codies not to dump Dragon Rising. Which they promptly did. Just my imagination, or, after the Dragon Rising flop-tacular, is the wheel turning ArmA-wards once more?
Zipper5 73 Posted March 1, 2010 It's not your imagination. I'd like to see that issue of PCG. Was it the UK or US version? I only get the US version over here, and even then, it's rare.
walker 0 Posted March 1, 2010 Hi SwiftyBoy Not your imagination. ArmA has been earning increasing numbers of plaudits from the game magazines and websites and is starting to win awards that confirm it. ArmA also has an increasing number of new recruits with the word getting out that ArmA actually does what all other FPS promise but do not deliver. Zipper5 73 Posted March 1, 2010 And word is spreading of BIS' impeccable customer and community support; something that almost every other developer completely neglects nowadays. Developers always earn positive reviews when they adhere to standards similar to BIS'. I'd say BIS should be the standard for game developers' community relations. SwiftyBoy 0 Posted March 1, 2010 @Zipper5/walker: It was the UK version. A pretty good magazine, I think. Glad to hear I'm not imagining things... didn't think I was but always worth getting a second opinion. Thanks fellas.
Zipper5 73 Posted March 2, 2010 Damnit. Guess I have to wait until next month's issue to get the PDF version.
icebreakr 2103 Posted March 2, 2010 In previous number there's been a quick update on the A2 addons, even featuring my Duala (you can find the scan in Duala topic).
Bulldogs 10 Posted March 2, 2010 That's what I get for living in the wrong country. Australian PCGamer magazine has gone a bit downhill of late. All the games I love they game horrible ratings to, the game I hate they said were perfection, even to the point that they mentioned how they were glad that DR was out so they didn't have to put up with Arma 2 anymore. They do still have some good people there, like one reviewer that got me hooked onto "the void".... trippy game. Man, this thread is making me realise that I should start developing a mod or something. I really haven't done anything worthy since the Operation Flashpoint mission making days. trickster1982 10 Posted March 2, 2010 I was in a Game store on sunday & Arma 2 is still sitting at number 16 in the charts, pretty good considering it will soon be a year since it was released! :)
walker 0 Posted March 2, 2010 Hi trickster1982 I pointed out a similar situation in my local Game store about 3 months back. BIS's OFP was the same. That ArmA II continues to make sales is not a surprise. We all know it is a good product and tend to say so to others. Kind Regards walker
Madus_Maximus 0 Posted March 2, 2010 ArmA 2 is pretty much the only PC only game (apart from WoW and The Sims 3) even being sold at any of the Game store's I've been in lately. The PC section is rediculously small these days and most of them are multi-platform releases. The same goes for Gamestation and HMV. There's a massive HMV in Manchester (well there's like 3 of them lol) and they have the basement dedicated to nothing but gaming with a Lan set up and everything, they have like 20 PC games on the whole floor, most of which are multiplatform releases or old "classic" titles from the hay day. Too true, mate. My local Game used to have a decent PC range. Now it only has 1/2 a shelf, usually iwth the Sold-Out game things that are usually crap.
