WarriorM4 10 Posted February 25, 2010 Ok I encountered this once before but was avble to install Arma 2 even though it took an hour. What my issue is,is that when I put the Arma 2 DVD into my DVD player it takes forever to read whats on the DVD,sometimes it fails to read and says their is nothing in the drive. When it does read the DVD its labeled "UDF" and installing Arma 2 takes over an hour.Like 1 MB of transfer rate a second.Thats horrible.I feel that maybe the DVD must of been goofed in the manufacturing process and been a bad burn? I also tried the trick that had been suggested by setting the DVD drive to region 2 but that does nothing.I am in the USA and its set to region 1 now.Still no luck.My firmware is up to date for the drive.I know its not my DVD player/Writer because all other discs work in it. Im running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate,All my drivers for my system are constantly up to date. LG GSA-H55N DVDRW Nvidia GTS 250 1GB Video Card Phenom 9850 Quad 2.5GHZ 6GB Corcair Ram There's no way I can get a refund locally on this as Ive owned the product for a few months. Please help
Bulldogs 10 Posted February 25, 2010 Try copying all the files from the DVD to a folder on your hard drive then install from there. If you're still having issues, try someone elses DVD drive (sometimes it seems like your drive is fine but there's certain disks it can't read, my old drive only couldn't read any windows disk or a certain brand of disk)
zoog 18 Posted February 25, 2010 I have it too, it depends on the type of DVD drive. My Sony had big problems with reading Securom discs (Fallout 3, GTA 4 etc) and now I bought a new one from Samsung because the Sony didn't recognize my Windows 7 disc but this new Samsung now has problems with the ArmA 2 disc while the Sony didn't. From my own experience it's a bad combo between disc and drive and (most of the time) not a problem of the disc alone.
WarriorM4 10 Posted February 25, 2010 Thanks for responses. I gave up last night.I booted up today and bang the Arma 2 DVD read fine and its installing. That's so weird.Well not going to complain but I do agree my player doesn't like securom discs or this new UDF format.Time for a decent OEM Samsung or other player. They aren't expensive.:)
todayskiller 10 Posted March 5, 2010 I'm asking this for my uncle...He recently bought Arma 2, and when it gets around 75% (tree part) it freezes right there? is this the same type of problem? should he try my copy? or do the hard drive thing?

First try to copy all the contents from the disc to the harddrive and install from there. Sometimes the disc can be read while simply copy/pasting the files even if it hangs when you are installing right from the disc.
SylverFyre 10 Posted March 7, 2010 My original Arma2 DVD was faulty - got it replaced by the shop I bought it from after a couple of days of trying to get it to work, got the new disc and all was well. Sony G170A drive for info :)
