jblackrupert 14 Posted February 23, 2010 (edited) I'm having 2 problems since the 1.05 patch. 1) In the editor preview it now takes up to 10 shots dead on to kill AI both enemies and friendlies. I can shoot them point blank and see blood but I have the empty half a clip into them to get them to die. Shots directly to the head don't improve damage. This problem does not occure in MP. 2) Something I can only describe as "bullet lift" instead of "bullet drop". or the scope is just not positioned on the screen correctly if that makes any sense. Aiming and shooting with the M107 and ACOG scope the bullets land over the place I aim instead of down. Even at 300 metres I have to aim at someones foot to hit them in the chest. First thought is something on my system triggered FADE but it's nothing like FADE. the bullets don't go wild all over the place randomly each shot just UP instead of down at 300 metres or more. Either the bullets are going up instead of dropping or the scope is appearing wrong. The second problem only occurs in MP Mods and addons are dissabled also. It does occur with all sniper rifles in ACE2 servers I've been on. Has anyone else witnessed this? Any way to fix other then standing on my head? ;) Edited February 23, 2010 by jblackrupert
EDcase 87 Posted February 23, 2010 Thats a strange one. You could try deleting the arma.cfg file and maybe make a new profile. If that doen't work then uninstall, clean registry and re-install then patch directly to 1.
jblackrupert 14 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm almost convinced by the limited testing I've done that the scopes themselves are not positioned on the screen correctly and it's not a case of the bullets going up. I haven't had a chance to ask anyone in MP to volunteer to be a target to do any detailed testing yet to figure out if the scopes are positioned wrong or bullets actually are going falling UP. I'll see what other suggestions come up and if anyone else has seen this and give your suggestions a try. I have the IDEA games version sold in Canada so I don't have to install any previous patches before installing 1.05? I have seen nothing to suggest it's FADE since I'm pretty sure the rounds would just go wild like I've seen demonstrated in videos. If it is FADE then it should be acting the same in both SP and MP. not just MP.
jw custom 56 Posted February 23, 2010 Have you tried with vanilla 1.05 to see if the problem is still there?
jblackrupert 14 Posted February 23, 2010 I've tried it with no addons/mods running. The addons I have installed are using the @addons folders system I'm going to try a full install later tonight and see what happens. I'll remove all the @addon folders first and try and then a full reinstall. The problem didn't appear as soon as I installed the 1.05 patch my current install is about 1 month old (Approx) and these problems have been around for about a week roughly. Bulldogs 10 Posted February 24, 2010 (edited) The bullet raise with an m107 at 300m is accurate (actually, the raise seems a little more than it should but can't remember the exact ballistics) From what I remember, the scope of the m107 is zero'd to 500m, meaning if you fire at anything beyond 500m you should get bullet drop, if you fire at anything before 500m you should get bullet raise. This is due to the way a scope zero works. The rifle barrel is aimed up from the scope so while it seems like the bullet travels in a straight line at 500m it actually travels up then down (lobbed shot) EDIT : Did a few tests. It looks like the m107 is zero'd to 300m so you shouldn't be getting such a raise unless you're trying to fire from a standing position or using a mod, also the zero value, and trajectories seem to be way off for the m107. So basically what you're getting seems to be more realistic than in game. That said, the AI not dying is an odd issue. There's a bunch of variables you can modify to make the AI take more dmg (armor values), but without running a mod the variables shouldn't be modified by default. As you mentioned, try the reinstall. Make sure you uninstall, then delete your old directory (if you have a corrupt addons folder it'll probably leave the corrupt files in there and won't overwrite them on reinstall), then reinstall after. a wild goat 0 Posted February 24, 2010 You did buy the game right?
Bulldogs 10 Posted February 24, 2010 It's not FADE issues that he's describing, at least none I've ever heard of. With FADE his bullets would be flying off every direction (random directions making it nearly impossible to kill) That and some issues with randomly dying in MP for no reason and turning into a bird. I screwed around with my exe in Arma 1 to see FADE in action. It made me laugh, so for a challenge I played through the entire campaign again with FADE activated. The only way to kill anything is to get within 3m of it... still managed to complete the campaign though :)
