andromedagalaxe 10 Posted February 21, 2010 I am learning why people have a love/hate relationship with this game. After hours of crawling around avoiding helicopters, I got to the NAPA safehouse and the game did an autosave, seemed to complete the autosave, then went into a cutscene and during the cutscene froze up. So I reset and now when I launch the mission it fails to load and drops back to the desktop. IS THERE ANY WAY TO ACCESS ANY OF MY EARLIER SAVES? I don't want to restart. This sucks . zdavid99 10 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) i've had similar problems in Dogs of War where the game crashed while autosaving. I managed to get it working by mess around with the savefiles. Make a backup of your save files folder which is located at: My Documents\ArmA 2\Saved\ca\missions. the foler you need to backup is the folder named "campaign". Make a copy of it and put it somewhere safe. Then delete the original autosave file which is located in the "campaign" folder. then try to resume the campaign. I cant guarantee that it will work but i once managed to get a broken campaign working by doing this. Edited February 21, 2010 by zdavid99
andromedagalaxe 10 Posted February 22, 2010 Totally worked. Had to replay a small portion but no biggie. really appreciate the help on this. I have the steam version and my wi-fi went down at the same time as this glitch. Guess I should be playing in offline mode.
CptHarris.aus 10 Posted February 22, 2010 mate I can tell you now that having ur net connection on while playing any single player game is a recipe for disaster- apps running in the background- anti virus or java etc etc even windows updating,,, it's just a real bad scenario- I myself checked the net a couple days ago and thought yeah why not have a quick bash on arma--- bam! the game was all jumpy, freezing every 30seconds or so while something was obviously chewing up resources in the background.. also a friend was telling me that steam is a pain as compared to punkbuster, it's highly crackable/hackable? but anyway it's just full of bad things and don't forget that going steam- you're basically saying yeah do what you want to/with my system whenever you want, as opposed to choosing when to dl things... I had a steam install of Total War last year- man what a waste of system resources that turned out to be. last word- ditch anything that becomes an open sender controlled port on your machine- coughsteam!cough!- and go basic mate- control ur pc as much as you can yourself. andromedagalaxe 10 Posted February 22, 2010 that's a good idea. I'll probably get a disc copy when the price comes down a bit.
