free look FUBAR on a vehicle: any suggestions?

Recommended Posts

Problem: when in free look mode from outside my vehicle with the player as gunner in a revolving turret the turret revolves with the camera but the body of the gunner (the player) does not. Result is an ugly mess. The gunner is part of the otocvez and works fine normally. Any help where I should be looking appreciated as always. I suspect a config problem but the modelling thread and config thread seem to overlap as far as I can see.

EDIT sorry dont' bother even reading this - problem solved - I was playing about with DamageHide and had included the gunner proxy. You can't have animated sections in damagehide it would seem.

Yes you can, but I'm buggered if I can work out the trick for certain.

I think the trick is to make sure your damagehide definitions appear at the top of your animation definitions in the model.cfg

i.e, before any other animation is definied.

Please don't tease me like that! If that's so why do we have to faff about with podkolo_hide for the bottom half of the tracks/dampers? Hold on a minute the top half of the tracks animate yet they can be in damagehide. Strewth, I've confused myself now.

Cant remember ....

Try moving the damage section definition to either the beginning or the end of your skeleton definition.
