jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 17, 2009 Anyone going to work on pure air combat campaigns or missions based on the F117 addon or the apache addon? :) Its going to be fun playing the chenarus assault from the perspective of a CAS or strategic bomber. :)
Tonci87 163 Posted December 17, 2009 Helicopter might be fun, there is already a good Mission (search for Ebony Griphon) but CAS is a little bit boring: You come you lock on, you drop a bomb you fly away.... If there were good countermeassure systems it would be really fun too
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 17, 2009 ^... Yes, make it sophisticated by incorporating MMA systems. Will research ebony gryphon.
Zipper5 74 Posted December 17, 2009 Good air-based missions are much harder to make than any other type in ArmA II. That's why Str/Gaia is regarded as being as skilled as he is. All of his helicopter missions and campaigns have been some of the best missions and campaigns ever made for BIS' games. The reason there are so few is because ArmA II, and ArmA and OFP before it, are much more suited for ground-based warfare. Lack of countermeasures, proper AA defenses, sometimes odd handling of helicopters and planes by the AI, etc. all contribute to making it very hard for the mission maker to produce a good mission using them. It's unfortunate, but that's how it is.
jasonnoguchi 11 Posted December 17, 2009 I think that's where mando missiles really feels the gap. :) his systems really make air and anti-air combat varied and fun. Being able to incorporate his systems into a campaign really spices up air combat with all the automated vulcans and stuff.
