therifleman1 10 Posted December 16, 2009 Hello, Hello, how many people here play arma on their laptops an if so what kind of rig do you use? I was thinking of getting a laptop to play arma on. The one I had in mind was this particular gateway: http://www.gateway.com/systems/product/529668356.php Around $1200 It uses the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M grahpic system. Do any of you know how this squares up against NVIDIA's other cards such as the 9600 and the 8800? The only thing I am worried about with these laptops is the Duo Processor. I have been able to run arma on my current desktop on very high settings smoothly with an Intel Quad Core and a Nvidia GeForce 9600. Will the duo processor on the laptop restrict me to normal settings? I was also looking at Alienwares but I do not see the point in paying $1700 for something that essentially has the same stock specs as this Gateway priced at $1200. -RIP- Luhgnut 10 Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) oh man, Centrino Processor? I would be wary. Those tend to be a little "light" in CPU processor. And it's at 2.53 ghz stock. Maybe someone that is running one of these can give some input. The graphics subsystem seems okay, but the processor seems a little dodgy. Maybe consider this: Get a desktop gaming rig. then purchase a laptop for laptop work? Can probably build a nice rig and get a low end laptop if you need some portability. This.NEVER purchase a laptop for gaming and if you really need the portability then you probably have better things to do than play video games.
