Peonza 10 Posted December 10, 2009 I found that coop multiplayer strikes fps hard if there are many AI groups existing.. I wish to know whats YOUR fps when playing some kind of.. typical domination map in situation like this : 15 human players cleaning some kind of big town full of AI. Since as i see my video card totaly have no effect on this, and cpu keeps fps 20-25 (my spec e6600@2.7ghz , 4 gigs ram and 8800 gts 320 meg). Does having quad core would solve stuff like this? Oh common post your point of view if you own one Thanks
-=seany=- 5 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) no its just as crap with a quad core, maybe worse. I have some confusion about how Arma2 servers work. I don't understand why the Client cant seem to get a higher FPS than the server. I have also run Domination off line as a single mission and the performance is exactly the same. So what exactly is the server doing? Is it just there to manage all the network traffic? How come it doesn't control all the AI? It seems like all the Clients have to calculate the AI the same amount the server does, which is not how I thought severs for games worked. I have played other games where when you play on a server you can get way more fps than when you play offline because the server is doing a lot of the work, eg bf2. And for example, when I used to play OFP CTI on my 2 pc LAN, I would be the sever and would have to put up with the low performance while the other Client PC would run fine. But Arma2 is not like this with a server, why? On a side note, stuttering/input lag/jerkyness (whatever you want to call it), which I am having no luck in resolving is always very bad when I play large coops online, as soon as the server is underload I get jittery panning even if my fps are 28-30, turning up my VD makes it smoother but then its unsmooth because my pc cant handle 5000m VD near towns. But the same mission offline does not cause this jittery panning effect. Who knows? I don't think I'm ever going to figure it out. :( Edited December 10, 2009 by -=seany=-

Oh common post your point of view if you own one Thanks I think a Quad helps alot. But 2.7 is low, i find the game is much better @3.8 and above. And some severs just suck at running big AI missions, but i get better FPS on Dom. than large regular COOPs, but even then its up to the mission and all the logic its using. All the vid card can do is help with the graphics, and VD is more a CPU thing, so you need both running well to use that above 2500 with lots of AI. Also i always have higher FPS than a dedicated server.usually dbl. You may find that your 6600 at 3.2 will help at basic server VD of 1600/2500. Also x55 x58 and there CPUs are clock for clock much better than p45/x48 CPUs in this game.

I would be more happy if they improve netcode instead releasing Operation Arrowhead or how they call their new expansion
