MP Mission settings

I've recently been creating some multiplayer missions but seem to be coming across a problem with what appear to be super AI. I just wondered what mission setting you guys use for the AI skill level and the terrain detail.

In a couple of the missions the AI seem as if they have x-ray eyes, I've read that the AI sees through the grass so wondered how to combat this to provide a more even match. How could I turn off the grass to even up the battle or is that a bit cheap? It just seems the AI have visual when they really shouldn't. Also the AI seem deadly accurate, how can this be toned down?

Any suggestions on settings to make a realistic challenging mission that combats this super AI?

I thought i have heard that this will be fixed in patch 1.05, cause i think i have seen this in the beta testing section of the forums.

Hi mate.

So far I think its true the AI can't see any grass. But I am quite sure (as T-Bone mentioned) with the upcoming patch v1.05 a grass layer will be integrated, so lets look forward to it.

For default settings I suggest to

  • disable Super AI and set their skill to 70% or 80%, that is most appropriate comparing to human reaction. With super AI you will get 2000m AK Sniper AI - no fun.
  • Grass and viewdistance is a bit hard to find a common agreement on. Standard in MP is 1600m viewdistance, what is not enough for me. I'd always like to have it set to at least 4000m. Problem then: People with slower computers won't like you anymore. Same with grass. Grass disabled just looks disgusting, but apart from the AI which can (still) look through it every machine performs faster with grass disabled. This really is a question of flavor and author's priorities.

Many thanks for that I really appreciate it. This stuff is all very new to me. :)

How do you disable the SuperAI and set the skill level? I only know the slider in each individual unit, is there a more generic way of doing it. :o

I said I was new to this :)
