PacifistRambo 10 Posted November 21, 2009 I have patched my ArmA to 1.14 after having reinstalled following an earlier issue with lack of sound. Now ArmA will not start and causes the system to restart. Other games are working fine. My configuration is: Pentium D with 4GB Ram Windows XP SP3 ATI Radeon 4890 with latest drivers Any ideas please?
Gunter Severloh 4051 Posted November 21, 2009 im thinking it can be the Windows XP SP3, as i only have SP2. my buddy is a computer tech and told me not to get Sp3, i forget why but i never had any issues. possible could be ATI card as well, just my opinion but i ive always had Nvidia card and nothing else and never had problems with Arma. my specs are: windows xp Sp2 2gigs ram Nvidia
Richey79 10 Posted November 22, 2009 Two possible suggestions: Try the 1.17 beta - lots of problems were fixed in the intervening releases. Remember to run from the shortcut it sets up for you (or use '-mod=beta' in your command line and point the address to the 'beta' folder). Might be worth testing the '-window' command line to try whether A1 will run windowed. Has fixed problems for me in the past. I had a really bad problem when I tried to reinstall once. My .cfg file had become corrupted and nothing I tried would over-write it properly. Ended up having to install Arma to a (very slightly) different location. Worth a go if all else fails! jasonnoguchi 11 Posted November 22, 2009 do the usual basics of updating all your drivers and fixing your registries. XP registries are easily damaged. I run ArmA on SP2 and 4870 1gb and everything's fine.
PacifistRambo 10 Posted November 27, 2009 Thanks for your help. I used Microsoft Update to update my soundcard drivers and now the game works fine.
