Identify the addon used in the video

Recommended Posts

Can anyone identify exactly which addon is responsible for creating the thick dark smoke effect when grenades explode in the following video -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yxkWYkPoEg

I already have the WarFXparticles addon that creates all the beautiful sparks but I also want my grenade explosions to have that heavy dark smoke effect just like in the video. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Maybe JTD Fire and Smoke?

I tried that one first but unfortunately it didn't change the genade explosion effects. I have spent countless hours trying to find this elusive mystery addon.

I altered the JTD FireAndSmoke particle lifetime config setting to 200% but it didn't create the desired result.

Perhaps the person who created the gameplay video has the JTD FireAndSmoke beta 0.1 addon, which unfortunately is no longer available for download from Armaholic.

Oh well my mission for today is to scour the internet in search of the 0.1 beta. I feel like a dog chasing it's tail. :(

the appearance of the dark dust clouds also be caused by the environment lighting. look at the colors of the rest of the scenery

just my 2 cents

Video descriptions are your friend:

It's the JTD FireAndSmoke addon that you want. He's not using any other addons that affect the effects of the game (smoke, in your case).

I altered the JTD FireAndSmoke particle lifetime configuration to max setting (200%) but it still didn't create a heavier puff of smoke, it only made the smoke linger around for twice as long.

I can only assume that he is also using the WarFXparticles addon because there is a shower of sparks everytime a grenade explodes.

I simply can't understand how he has created such a thick puff of smoke because there really aren't any other JTD FireAndSmoke configuration settings that will have an effect on smoke thickness.

Do your grenade explosions look like the ones in the video?

I did take the color correction changes into consideration however there definitely appears to be a much higher volume of smoke than normal.

Thats basically how it looks when i shoot grenades. WarFX+JTD (particles/hang around time = 0.5).

There is some color tweak over the game though. Used possibly with the color tweaks ARMA2 supports (color, brightness, contrast etc etc) wich can make things look extremely black and thick. Im sure thats it as it says "unedited". Unless he mean that a video color filter is "unedited".

Look for color tweaks on this forum. Editing section.

I only wish I knew how to do that.

I really appreciate that Opticalsnare. Your mod is already excellent and really creates an immersive atmosphere during firefights, I think extra smoke on grenade explosions will make your mod nothing less than perfection.

Thanks Alex, I shall do that now whilst I'm waiting for Opticalsnare's next mod release.
