Hachiman 10 Posted November 13, 2009 Can anyone identify exactly which addon is responsible for creating the thick dark smoke effect when grenades explode in the following video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yxkWYkPoEg I already have the WarFXparticles addon that creates all the beautiful sparks but I also want my grenade explosions to have that heavy dark smoke effect just like in the video. Could someone please point me in the right direction.

Hachiman 10 Posted November 14, 2009 Maybe JTD Fire and Smoke? I tried that one first but unfortunately it didn't change the genade explosion effects. I have spent countless hours trying to find this elusive mystery addon.
Drew 10 Posted November 14, 2009 you can edit JTD's config to your liking. this indeed is JTD fire and smoke
Hachiman 10 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) I altered the JTD FireAndSmoke particle lifetime config setting to 200% but it didn't create the desired result. Perhaps the person who created the gameplay video has the JTD FireAndSmoke beta 0.1 addon, which unfortunately is no longer available for download from Armaholic. Oh well my mission for today is to scour the internet in search of the 0.1 beta. I feel like a dog chasing it's tail. :( Edited November 14, 2009 by Hachiman
sir fragalot 0 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) the appearance of the dark dust clouds also be caused by the environment lighting. look at the colors of the rest of the scenery just my 2 cents Edited November 14, 2009 by Sir Fragalot
Zipper5 74 Posted November 14, 2009 Video descriptions are your friend: Addons used are listed in the sidebar of my other vid "Razani Gameplay" link: It's the JTD FireAndSmoke addon that you want. He's not using any other addons that affect the effects of the game (smoke, in your case).
Hachiman 10 Posted November 14, 2009 Video descriptions are your friend:It's the JTD FireAndSmoke addon that you want. He's not using any other addons that affect the effects of the game (smoke, in your case). I altered the JTD FireAndSmoke particle lifetime configuration to max setting (200%) but it still didn't create a heavier puff of smoke, it only made the smoke linger around for twice as long. I can only assume that he is also using the WarFXparticles addon because there is a shower of sparks everytime a grenade explodes. I simply can't understand how he has created such a thick puff of smoke because there really aren't any other JTD FireAndSmoke configuration settings that will have an effect on smoke thickness. Do your grenade explosions look like the ones in the video? ---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:22 AM ---------- the appearance of the dark dust clouds also be caused by the environment lighting. look at the colors of the rest of the sceneryjust my 2 cents I did take the color correction changes into consideration however there definitely appears to be a much higher volume of smoke than normal. Opticalsnare 12 Posted November 14, 2009 Maybe he edited my mod ie config? I know my mod doesnt have much smoke on the grenades so il sort that out for next release.
Alex72 1 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) Thats basically how it looks when i shoot grenades. WarFX+JTD (particles/hang around time = 0.5). There is some color tweak over the game though. Used possibly with the color tweaks ARMA2 supports (color, brightness, contrast etc etc) wich can make things look extremely black and thick. Im sure thats it as it says "unedited". Unless he mean that a video color filter is "unedited". Look for color tweaks on this forum. Editing section. Edited November 14, 2009 by Alex72
Hachiman 10 Posted November 14, 2009 Maybe he edited my mod ie config? I only wish I knew how to do that. I know my mod doesnt have much smoke on the grenades so il sort that out for next release. I really appreciate that Opticalsnare. Your mod is already excellent and really creates an immersive atmosphere during firefights, I think extra smoke on grenade explosions will make your mod nothing less than perfection. ---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:33 PM ---------- Look for color tweaks on this forum.
