Slow Texture Renders

Recommended Posts

Hey yall

I got ArmA II yesterday and played about five missions into the campaign. Only minor FPS lag occured. This afternoon, I got on the campaign and the game was lagging like crazy. Textures (from soldiers to walls) took several (5-10) seconds to render (the textures were a very low quality before fully rendered). Many objects would only fully render if I got very close to them. So I lowered the settings on everything, and still had the same problems.

I'm sure y'all are sick of all these FPS lag threads, but I couldn't find anything that matched my issue.

Here are my specs:

Windows Vista 32 bit

Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00 GHz

9800 GTX+

2 GB RAM

360 GB HD

Thanks,

Major_Breland

***EDIT*** Also, if I were to upgrade one part of my system, what should it be? Not sure what my motherboard is, all I know is that it is an x-86 based system.

If u want to upgrade ur hardware, first u must upgrade ur proc because it is old enough n lacking in core speed...

My advice, take core2quad Q9550 or coreI5 and above...

u don't need to replace the other hardware since that is good enough , at least for plays ARMA II

Happy gaming mate ;)

Thanks. However, I have no idea whether or not my motherboard can support those processors because I dont know what motherboard I have.

You have a Socket 775 (LGA775) motherboard with that cpu.

Use this program, it will show you all your hardware.

Thanks to both of you! Now I can give my PC a much-needed upgrade. :bounce3:

Before you run out and spend any money try the following;

1) id recommened you try another operating system i.e Win xp or windows 7. Vista does seem to be causing a lot poor performance issues with Arma2.

2) Try to overclock your CPU if possable.

Just my 2 cents as the game seemed to run better for in Windows 7.

Defrag your HD, helps tremendously in ArmA II.

Preferrably, use an external defrag-progam like the (freeware) Defraggler.

Be aware, that if you use it for the 1st time, it might take hours to complete!

Good luck.

More ram ;) .

Yep, 2 GB RAM is "minimum" for today's gaming if u were using vista as OS, but if u on XP that doesn't matter since XP didn't so much RAM :)

And try to defrag as Paajtor said before because it is boosting ur performance on all application including ARMA II as well :D

The game doesnt use more than 2GB of Ram it doesn't support 64bit OS, thats a problem, also I was playing Harvest Red today and everything during gameplay turned into a extremely low LOD, like models and took up to 20 seconds to come back and then it happened again, I have a good rig I only play at 100% 3D Resolution and I get around 20FPS in the dumb cities, this game doesn't work well in Cities.

ROBO's face was a white dome for like 15 seconds and Ohara's body was paper thin for like 10 seconds, no my computer wasn't stressing or anything, but I was in Chernogorsk and I was next to the Ocean which makes my game run Extremely slow for me, must be a huge bug!

Yeah sounds like the same problem I'm having. That Chernogorsk mission has the lowest FPS for me.
