Windows 7 and Arma 2

Recommended Posts

I7 940, 12gb ram, nvidia gtx280 running driver 191.07. did a clean install of win7 64 and was getting micro stutter which didnt happen to me under vista 64. tried everything and stumbled on cpucount=4. this fixed my stutter issue and have not had a crash (yet) under win7. runs very well and far superior to vista 64 for me all around.

I have W7 32bit 4gig of ram and gtx 285. I was having crashes within 5 to 10 min into playing which I never had with xp or vista. Before I got about a 50% increase in performance in xp over vista. Now I have about the same performance in W7 and so far I think I solved my crashing issues.

I increased my pagefile size and move the pagefile to a different drive. Plus I use cpucount 4 and maxmem 2047.

Maybe this can help anyone that has issues but it looks like most people are running w7 + ArmA2 are doing fine.

i used windows 7 32bit, and i just put windows XP 32bit, and i plays about 50% faster, i gt about dobule the FPS and i cna put it on higher graphics, with the dobule FPS unchanged.

and hey kklownboy, you should ram disk your extra ram, and only put the highly used files in it. aka tarrian and infantry, and other graphic files that are accessed all the time.

p.s but that is not to say windows 7 is not good, it still ran great, and i had minimal crashes. It was very rare but it did happen.

I'm running the game on Win 7 64bit

680i LGA775 MB

Core2 Due E6550

Radeon 4870 512MB

4 gigs Crucial Ballistix

2x Sata Drives (independent)

On default settings I get pretty low frames. Still tweaking a bit here and there to get it running good. Have not had any CTD's or BSOD's.
