Win7 64 + 5870 + ARMA2

Recommended Posts

Not going all that well.....

OS install gave no real issues.

Diamond HD 5870 installed fine (6.1 Catalyst).

ArmA2 installed (Nexway) and patched to 1.04.

First several launches seemed to go fine. Did a few test flights around the island. Looked great.

Then not sure what happened. Hard lockup at every launch now (usually in the menu screens but sometimes I can get to a mission long enough to load in as a player then hard lockup).

I've reset everything to default and issue persists. Very frustrating in that it worked just long enogh to tease me......

Do other games work?

Maybe your PSU isn't up to the job, try running atitool artifact scanning or occt gpu test or something. see if it locks up with that too.

If they also crash try lowering your gpu clockspeed (a LOT) with atitool or catalyst thingy. If it works then ít probably isn't a driver issue but really your psu.

Well, I'm back up and running good. Went back thru my bios settings one at a time and everything is stable now.

i've not really fiddled with bios yet other than doing the stuff as I was building/setting up. that was probably it, especially if you had an overclock on the go. Arma2 can be funny like that.
