cant play game at all - extreme Graphic Bug

Recommended Posts

hello!

When I start the game, I can play for about 1 minute, then something weird happens: some random texture is being laid over the whole screen, and through it I can still see the game, although with totally f*ked up colors.

(see screenshots)

This happens every time. I just cant play this game at all.

Game is freshly installed from CD, including 1.04 patch.

After it didn't work, I also installed the latest DirectX (9.27) and the newest nvidia drivers (191.07).

My system is like this:

Windows XP SP2

Core2 Duo E8500 @3,16GHz

Geforce 285 GTX 1GB (evga ssc)

4 GB Ram

ASUS P5Q

here is my DXdiag file

That happened to me when I had my video card memory settings screwed up. Try deleting your Arma2.cfg file ...should straighten it out.

And set the video memory setting (video settings) to DEFAULT.

Try delete the ARMA2.CFG like Pappy60 said also.

Привет!

that seemed to work... for like 10 minutes.

then I got the same bug again while viewing the compass.

(deleted the cfg file, and set video memory to default.)

bad luck I guess.

If Video memory on default doesn't work then try normal, then high and very high.

Personally i get CTD's on default!

i find that lowering the post-process setting, along with lowering the pre-rendered frames setting (in nvdia panel) helps, but after about 15 to 20mins of play, same problem occurs! This games rubbish, I've been playing the series since ofp in 2001, but the instability issues have just worstened with every new game to make an instability comparison:

ofp<arma <<<<armaII

all those issues, this is worse, in terms of stability, than many other games, which are still in beta-phase! I am ottally disappointed!

I set the video memory to HIGH.

seems to work now.

pretty weird, since all other options didnt.

also, I think you may get rid of the effect, when you go into "video options" and then back to the game, or try an alt-tab swicht out of the game and back.

Still, it's a shame that I have to experiment so much in order to get a game playable.

I just got the same gfx bug again.

so NONE of the memory settings works.

the only way around was alt-tab switching the game, then it worked again.

unfortunately I cant play this game until BI release a patch that fixes this crap.

I dont want to waste an entire week fretting over this stuff.

Game may be good if you're lucky that it works, but I rather play Operation Flashpoint 1 again, that works at least.

The state of this game is a scandal , even after patch 1.04!

I wouldnt be so sure its the game yet, there are plenty of ppl with those cards and this problem doesnt seem very comon. Your card could be on its way out...

My pc and gfx card are state of the art. among the fastest you could wish.

Blaiming my video card (evga nvidia gtx 285 ssc) seems wrong.

The 50 other games i have installed dont have any problems with my card.

Sorry to see you are having problems LenaKatina but its not the games fault otherwise more people would have this problem.

I have a similar setup to you and don't have any problems.

Did you remove previous versions of NVidia driver properly with "NastyFileRemover" or "DriverCleanerPro"?

Might be worth uninstalling and reinstalling DirectX

Your XP should be on SP3

Good luck...

I'll try to do these things when I find the programs.

thanks for the heads up.

Just another thing I thought about...

Make sure your graphics card (and system) are not overheating.

I've seen gfx glitches like that from overheated gcards.

Just take the side off the case and use a fan to see if that helps...

It is not temperature related. I had the texture problems and temp of my gpu was 50°C. I have a spare sidepanel for my rig, with a 120mm fan on it, which blows right on the graphic card: same problem after 30 mins of play; temp was 40°C!!

I think its either memory related or maybe even powersupply. I have an antec truepower 400w, and i'm starting to think it's not completely sufficient to juice the system correctly under full load.
