What is the fastest way to assign AI to mount the gunner post in a vehicle?

Recommended Posts

I always have difficulties when needed to assign an AI to mount the gunner post on a Humvee/vehicle. the std method i do is via the numbering systems which is quite tedious and most of the time it is that crucial moment your team need a heavy weapon on your side ...

wondering whether anyone has a trick that will be the fastest to assign your squad to mount a gunner post without going thru the numbering system.

board

humvee

gunner

'number system' is best way I know.

for best results' date=' place ai in that position before you are taking fire...;)[/quote']

Ah.. well I normally do...just that the rest of the squad is in the vehicle too.. and when you spot a RPG or a squad of OPFOR firing at your vehicle..you tends to command everyone to disembark for cover and that the time when u need some one still up there to provide the needed heavy weapon cover.

team colors, have your gunner separate. red disembark, gunner stays in...

Once you've been playing a while (and certainly if you played OFP/Arma1 since - tho the menus are different - and confusing - the sequences haven't changed) - you just memorise number combos...

Since if I'm alone with AI I usually do the driving, the vehicle in question is usually named after "Me"... that always seems to equate to vehicle 2 on the list... so to get a gunner into any vehicle I'm in it's usually...

Single Unit in as Gunner in (my) vehicle = F(whatever) - 4 - 2 - 4

All (except gunner) disembark = (all units key) - F(whatever) - 4 - 1

After a while you stop looking at the menus and just punch number sequences real fast...

Yup, exactly. ArmA 2 has a different menu system but with how much I play this game I quickly became proficient with hitting number keys without even looking. Usually you get positive results, but sometimes a vehicle or action can be in a different spot causing AI to die/get lost.

Well thanks guy. Guess practice practice practice is the fastest way of doing it.
