method of using builtin radio sounds?

Recommended Posts

Is there a method of using the built in game radio calls/voices in a mission?

What I mean is the game has voices and radio calls built in when you play SP, is there a way to use these voices and calls in mission builder or scripts?

I have seen some postings about using custom radio calls and voices with custom made sound files, but nothing on using the built in voices / radio calls of the game?

If it must be done via custom files is there a preferred sound editor ? I really want them to sound like they are coming over a radio with ambient fire or helo in the background....

Where is that radio "beep" stored? At the very least I want to use that on my sidechats to get the pilots attention.

I've wondered this.

I'm fairly sure it is possible. At least in theory. If you look in the "effects" section of a trigger you can see all sorts of voice commands. Picking a few at random you can hear some very nice, generic, radio messages -- these are not even from the campaign as far as I can tell.

The only problem is the majority have blank labels so it is impossible to find what you're after. The best solution would obviously be for a patch to fix the missing labels. The second best solution would be for an enterprising person to go through each position in the list and write down what it says. Such a person would need amazing patience though.

I know that one of the properly labeled sounds was for a person weeping, and I managed to grab the label from that and use it directly in a script with PlaySound. One could probably do the same with the radio calls if only the labels weren't missing!
