what is this game ?

Recommended Posts

you're not wrong, but still, many campaign missions AND single player missions use the things I don't like, so my title is not so wrong, as this is the most part of the game's content.

I don't agree campaign is a small part of the game. The game I buy is mostly campaign and single player missions. Then if I download extra user content, this is not really "the game" but extensions to it.

anyway, can you change a thread title ? IF yes, how ?

I was sure you can change it, but mixed it with another forum maybe.

I did send a PM to a Mod to clear this. (Still waiting for response.)

For my arguement, that dealing with the campaign isn't quite dealing with AA2 at it's "reason for existence" pls read this, especially the no. 2 ...:

Campaign was always just an introduction to this milsim which is vast and open.

In the broadest sense of open.

Just to learn "how it can be" - just ONE single example.

Only time I ever tried it was after years of gaming OFP and AA1.

And it was only minutes (in OFP though I already had AA1).

I would recommend to BI to cut it sharply to make clear that AA2 isn't really "met" playing the campaign - and to avoid bugs. :o

As stated in the thread I gave the link to above: There are daily newer and better "campaigns".

No offence - just an hint to a big wild world - where I would like to meet you and all campaigners ... ;)

this is depended on server admin and mission maker, most of the time if the mission creater didnt want to put respawn function into the mission, once server admin turned off AI the server will not support JIP anymore, atless it is how it work in A1

which means that the only reason for this to happen is that no people make good COOP mission anymore and people only knows about/wants to play EVO and not knowing what COOP really is.

Bennys warfare is a already great coop for me.

And gets daily better.

Until now close to crCTI which I do miss a lot (crcti 0.9 doesn't work too well for me until now - but thanx to Squeeze who adapted it for AA2).

Mmm ... I see I use "coop" in quite a broad sense: you may coop with cogamers of *your* side though. ;-)

Definitely wrong title for the thread. It should ask about state of the campaign, not the game.

Is there a demand for Warfare type missions? HELL YES!

Is there a demand for High Command stuff? HELL YES!

Is there a demand for higher flexibility and openness of the game & engine? HELL YES!

should all these be mandatory in the campaign? It's questionnable

but ArmA2 != ArmA2's campaign, and vice versa. There's far more to this game than the campaign, and that's probably why you see Warfare and HC stuff in campaign. To make players aware of the game possibilities. That was imho an error from BI, though, to put this in campaign. Single missions could have done the same job without killing campaign fun.

Note that I think you can go through most of Badlands nearly ignoring the Warfare stuff and just going around with your squad like in a more classical mission

One more time, I don't say Warfare is of not interest for anybody, I just say I don't like that, and the campaign I found in ArmA2 did not live to my great expectations.

They should just have made two campaigns: one with all this stuff, and one more like the first missions (which by the way and one more time are soooo great) or more OFP style. So everybody would have had a choice, and this thread would not have existed.

As for doing Badlands with ONLY razor team, I wish you good luck, taking second village is easy, but counter-attack is IMO way too hard for me and 3 guys who love to stay up when shot at ;-)

I read it, but I don't agree. It's quite hard to find GOOD campaigns (I mean differentiating good from bad ones) from the community without investing a great time on forums & testing campaigns which is time consuming (btw if you can give me a great one, I take it). With a built in campaign, you have something official, which *should be* a insurance on quality.

By the way, I tink very few people would buy a game that is just a gaming system with no content.

Sure.

But consider it more as some kind of a "trailer".

You also do use and pay for the internet though there is no "official content".

Since 2001 I did only (99 %) play user generated missions, mostly mfcti/crcti.

If I would have known that when I bought OFP, I would have been willing to pay ten times the official price. And close to nothing for any official missions. They were just demos/trailers to me.

Well maybe thats your through about coop, but what i am saying is more deep, in those play modes you basicly die, then respawn, then die again, then respawn again untill someone win the match, but you just cant "bond" yourself into the mission and the team you are playing with, plus there aint enought scenarios being created. Back in the days when we have mission based COOP without respawn, we really have rely on friendly forces to keep yourself alive to complete the mission. we have scenarios from CSAR to Recon and Assault and to simple "run for your life" mission, which gives me almost all the most memorial moments for the past 8 years.

Bear in mind that I am not trying to disgrace any CTI or warfare or evo players and mission, they are very well made concept and do gives fun from time to time, it just that when you guys talks about how good those mission was and how good Coop is, I just cant help myself to look back at those moments of OFP greatness and put a big smile on my big face(some time with tears in my eyes)

so can you please give me the best ArmA2 campaign in your opinion, which is no warfare but very good quality ? (if lots of chopper missions, better :-))

I think he means that he mainly does scenarios, custom missions, and personally made missions (it's very easy to create a basic all out war, just YouTube arma 2 editor tutorials)

ROFL, now there's someone who really knows how to take advantage of a game's strengths! :icon_ohmygod:

SP, CTF, CTI, Warfare (only know enough about the last two to know I'd never play them)

I don't do any of the above and probably never will but do I mind that they're packaged in the game? Absolutely not.

You know what? I bet he joined a game where everybody was out fighting and not at base. I remember when I first tried Multi-player in Arma1, joined a server that was nearly full and was alone. Had no clue what to do, cause I didn't have big huge icons showing me where to go.

Arma mutliplayer is a little daunting at first, but get yourself in a squad, get yourself ready for war, then find yourself a good transport to the frontlines (there's often choppers happy to ferry people around)

I play only Warfare so I buy my own transports. Now if the AI would learn how to take off vertically in a helo and not fly into trees, I would be :coop:
