Ka-52 Funnel Meneuver and Side Fly

Recommended Posts

Here is my attempt to make Funnel meneuver on Ka-52 in ARMA2.

Funnel - flight maneuver, which consists in the motion around the point. In this case the nose of helicopter is constantly directed toward this point. It is performed by coaxial-type helicopters (for example Ka-50 or Ka-52). This maneuver can conduct concentrated fire to the target continuously moving around it.

It is a little difficult to start this maneuver in ARMA2. I should have heli speed around zero to start this maneuver. And it is very easy to lose funnel mode when I try to adjust nose of helicopter to the target. When heli lose this mode it suddenly starts to increase his speed.

I use Joystick, Pedals and TrackIR.

It's because there's only one generic flight model for helicopters in ArmA, and it is based on helicopters with a tail rotor. Thus the Ka-50/52 won't maneuver as it should, sadly as it is.

It's easy with the AH-1Z, just empty a few mags into the tail rotor to make it stop, power up the heli, gain some altitude and push the nose down.

ARMA2 is not a flight simulator and will probably never be able to do that. It has been suggested by many (including me) to get it in ARMA, but i think its not possible. Not without scripting etc.

DCS Black Shark will do the trick though.

Alex72, what are you taking about? I made all of these flights without any sripting. It's just a standard ARMA2.

That's possible with any chopper in Arma2 though, not just the Ka. No idea how that is irl.

He's taking about the flight model. Each helicopter shares the same flight model (base). He is suggesting that sripts are necessary to implement a more accurate flight model for the Kamovs (coaxial rotors) - this was done in ArmA.
