Connection Failed - V1.30

Recommended Posts

I have a big problem. My Operation Flashpoint runs perfectly when you look at it. The graphics is fine, sound is great, no bugs, doesent freeze, perfect! So you can now imagine my satisfaction when i bought the game and saw all of this occuring.

So, all happy and exited, I decide that its time to start playing multiplayer (2 days after i bought the game - but i played it much more before). So i go to gamesplanet (site for NZ servers) and i choose a server. I copy paste link, and! (DRUM ROLL) Connection failed.

No prob i said, there are pleanty more out there. After 16 hours, and bloody eyes, dyhadrated mouth and hungry stomack the "connection failed" screen became my comapanion. None of my attemts succeded.

I played around with windows (as i always do when something goes wrong) and checked my network connections and such (Oh by the way, i have win2000pro). I saw no problems, everything is as it should be. I run quake3 over MP and it works fine. I looked under options in the game and nothing could be found there.

OF course, i then thought that the 1.30 version is not proper, but then there is nothing out there and plus no one else seems to have this problem, except the guy below this forum.

I hope that some of you will come up with some serious suggestions of what to do. Do not suggest me to reinstall direct x, my video card drivers and all of these things which do not have any connections with the problem. IT IS SOLEMNLY a network problem. (by the way, didi i mention that i DONT have a firewall??)

If anyone knows anything, please, spare 2 minutes and write down the suggestion or a solution on how to fix the problem

Thanks

Win 2000 is NOT a good gaming plattform...

I dont know what the problem is since you already said you dont have a firewall. Have you tried using GS to find/host a small game and not a ded server?

I have tried everything you can think of smile.gif

I went and i searched for all the games that are made on gamespy and i almost clicked on everyone of them and waited for the host to start the game, and of course.....same thing happens. Connection failed.

Very strange, and if i can add, frustrating.

I can only imagine what fun some people are having over the net with the game, while i have to play single missions that i download off the net, over and over again. OPF is the only game i play everything else preety much sucks (except civ III)

Perhaps that day has arrived when i have to have 3 partitions of my hard disk, where i have to put one win98SE OS, win2000OS and XP (the reason why i dont want XP is because the 4-in-1 drivers dont work proper for my MOBO, DFI hasant released new bios for it yet...GGGRRRRRRR..........)

BUT I SOOOOOOO CANNTT BE BOTHERED! And by the way, if it works for my friend under XP (which is an NT based system, just win2000 with a nice skin), then whats the problem here?

Its a network configuration problem, but i dont know what it is! GRRR!

Ok people, i fixed the problem.

Avonlady, thanks for the suggestion, but unfourtunatly, it didint help much!

However, i neglected to mention that i have INTERNET CONNECTION SHARING enabled on my computer for all the other ones on the LAN.

HAH! When i disabeled the internet sharing, PUFF! I menage to log on to the servers without any problems, like a bullet.

However, here comes another question (dont you love it when you solve one problem it leads you straight into another? I love computers). What kind of settings should i have in order to play on the internet with the SHARING enabled? Do i have to manually assign the IP's on my lan?

Your thoughts and opinions.

Thanks
