Radeon 8500 :(

Recommended Posts

Lo....

Just wondering if anybody's had this problem or knows how to fix it. Ive got a 64meg DDR Radeon 8500 running in ma system, and it works schweet in everything. Theres one downside though. Although it works like a dream when it works, it keeps on locking up intermittently in Op Flash. it doesnt do it in any other games, but it op flash, it locks up frequently for about 15 seconds, then 'unlocks' again so i can play for another 30 seconds or so.

As you can imagine this is bloody annoying, specially when im trying to make a map / play multiplayer, and i got no idea why it does this. Im awaiting a reply from ATI technical support about it, but am just trying to follow up different areas in case ATI tech cant gimme a decent answer.

Thanks guys....

Have you installed updated drivers for your card? Why not tell the folks out there in the audience what your detailed system specs are.

your card may be defective, that happened with one of my old ati cards awhile back, you should still have warrenty, they will send you a new card, just give them an email.

Aint sure if it is defective actually.. i just tried OFP in windows 2000 using the same settings than in XP, but using the 5.13.01.6025 drivers for 2k.

It worked fine, no lockups that i could find

I just installed those 2k drivers in Xp - everything else works, OFP still locks up

im beginning to think Xp has it in for me.

I get gr8 performance in every other game (better than in 2k) but i may have to switch completely back to 2k if this continues...

Mwhahah!

Methinks i fixed it... one of my (sharp eyed) mates noticed i had Power Management turned off in my bios.

Supposedly WinXP runs unstable if u dont have Power Management switched on in bios, so i turned it on and op flash seems to work a dream smile.gif

Maybe something else for your FAQ AvonLady? smile.gif damn unstable Xp poo sad.gif
