jungleboy1 10 Posted September 5, 2009 Ok one major problem, which still happened in ARMA. Is that when your flying a chopper and you skim the top of any tree/bush with any part of the chopper it just loses fuel engine cuts off and the chopper just blows up in a pile of wreck and you die. I find that really annoying because i think in real life the blades from the chopper would be sufficient enough the cut the branches off the trees and prevent a crash. It would be like a chainsaw cutting down those forest trees in ARMA 2 with the rotors but unless you actually hit it really powerfully + fast in the big trunk then yes i would agree with a crash but not a proper explosion because its really unrealistic. At least the chopper would crash you would still survive and be able to bail out of the chopper wounded perhaps from the impact and possibly then a fuel leak will errupt maybe if it hits the tank and if you used a grenade or some kind of fire starting thing then it would explode. Those editor UH1 chopper crashes look more than realistic to be used when crashing into trees, rather than blowing up all the time in mid air or just skimming the tops of trees and blowing up into a ball of fire. sempavieh 10 Posted September 6, 2009 I love those Anti-Air Trees, they usually throw with nuts bigger than squirrels and those hardcore-nuts are homing for you engines, didn't you know that? Thats why Helos keep exploding like that ... For real now. I think you just can't have everything. Either you make a Helo like a Tank cutting all the trees without taking damage, or you let them take damage from trees. But as we all know the Energy produced in a crash results from the Speed at the impact. So if the target hit, is dense enough (in the game-engine, trees are more dense than in reality(f.e. you cant fire through them)) its just like you hit a wall :) proof me wrong if i am

What we currently have in ArmA2 is an exageration because if you "touch" the upper part of a tree flying a helo your helo will blow up. This of course does't happen in real life. My sugestion would be that if a helo touches the upper part of a tree than nothing should happen but if a helo touches the middle (or lower) part of a tree then the helo will blow up (like currently happens no matter what part of the tree the helo touches). I think this could be "easily" done by changing a bit the tree layers.
jungleboy1 10 Posted September 6, 2009 Lol me and my friend just suggested. We believe the trees are ANTI AIR and the rocks because they fixed this in arma but in arma 2 its not. The rocks are like anti tank because they flip tanks better than the men RPG them :D. They seem to do the job better than the enemy at least for now :P
shataan 1 Posted September 6, 2009 What bothers me about ARMA 2 A.I. flying choppers, is they fly way too high man. WE need to see more NOE= nap of the earth flying.
Jimmy the Saint 10 Posted September 6, 2009 What bothers me about ARMA 2 A.I. flying choppers, is they fly way too high man. WE need to see more NOE= nap of the earth flying. Sometimes they'll fly too high and sometimes too low crashing into trees or woods. However, if you're creating your own missions you can script the flight high and speed.
