Macross405 10 Posted August 21, 2009 I used the guide for Visitor3 over at OPEC but windows 7 64bit is a tad different in the layout than Vista. Any tutorials avail for W7 format versus Vista? (tutorial was great for setting up Arma when I had XP).

NutzMcKracken 18 Posted August 26, 2009 waht part are you not getting...be more specific? what are you trying to setup and what are you looking for? Have no idea what you are geting at? Have you A) used a 64bit OS before.....no i don't mean Vista...Vista is 32bit and 64 bit, so specify ....B) are you having troubles with the Documents and Settings location? Please specify where you are having a problem and maybe someone can know where to start.
Macross405 10 Posted August 27, 2009 More specific? Here is the part that disrupts map making for me.... This is from the tutorial at OFPEC: Quote (surpher @ Aug. 28 2007,19:42) I created a batch file called png2paa with the following inside: Code Sample START Pal2Pace %1 I then added it to the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer : Tools/Folder Options/File Types Select PNG and click the Advanced button, create a new action and give it a name (I called mine png2paa) then point it towards the batch file (I saved my batch file in the Windows folder). Then copy Pal2PacE.exe and ijl15.dll into your Layers folder from the TexView2 folder. I do not see an advanced tab in Windows 7 where "a new action" can be created. How do the Windows 7 users get past this (or has anyone)? And no-I haven't used Vista since my friend first bought it and found it was not worth the +100 to buy it. Planck 1 Posted August 28, 2009 I have never ever ever had to put anything in any islands Layers folder it is handled automatically by Visitor and Buldozer, you should never need to add anything to this folder ... ever. The only files that should be in the layers folder are the .png files and their .paa equivalents and also the rvmats ... nothing else. The .png files are of course not used when packing the island, only the .paa and rvmat files are used for packing, but this is all handled by your packing pipeline and normally you wouldn't need to worry about such things. This tutorial you are using might be from a time before the tools and packing pipeline were available to the community. Planck
NutzMcKracken 18 Posted August 29, 2009 More specific? Here is the part that disrupts map making for me....[/b]How do the Windows 7 users get past this (or has anyone)?[/i] I saw waht you mean, but like Planck said don't think it needs to be done. I am looking into this to see if there's another way around to this though as far as "new action". Scary that he asks you to put this batch in your Windows folder.....I'd put it somewhere else being its a batch file from a complete stranger. (food for thought) Also consider the fact that if you are running 64bit....is this a 32bit function or is it 64bit compatible....if you're unsure have it run in the x86 if possible. Other then that "?" and "not sure" come to mind.
UNN 0 Posted August 29, 2009 Scary that he asks you to put this batch in your Windows folder.....I'd put it somewhere else being its a batch file from a complete stranger. Reading the quoted text from Macross405, he's not asking you to add an unknown batch file, he's asking you to create your own. One that calls the exe's that come with the tools. All it does is allow you to run Pal2PacE.exe with a .png file, just by right clicking. But from what Planks says, you should not have to do this.
