GrossKopf 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Ok, here's the deal. I do support for Wolf Servers. I'm not sure who put together our 1.03 patch, but something was wrong with it. People tried updating their servers with the patch that someone put together and their servers are crashing. Here's my take on it, so please tell me if I'm wrong: In order to extract the client 1.03 files, which are required for a server to work properly, you need to have ArmA 2 1.0 installed, correct? Well, the server where we store our game installations doesn't have ArmA 2 installed, so if I try running the 1.03 client patch, it errors out, telling me it's not installed, so I can't create a 1.03 install or a patch. I did extract the 1.0 files into it's own folder and then tried extracting the 1.03 files, but it didn't work. Is there a .rar or .zip file that has all of the new 1.03 client files so I can create a patch for Wolf Servers? Is there anyone else here from a GSP that has put something together? -DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) i've setup a server for a friend, not a gsp. afaik, you simply place the 1.03 server.exe in the same folder as the arma2.exe, and appropriately place your ArmA2.cfg, server.cfg, and default.ArmA2profile files. I hope this is helpful  official instructions and server.exe 1.03 here http://www.arma2.com/supply/all-downloads/file/182-arma2server_1_03.html?lang=en Edited August 13, 2009 by [DirTyDeeDs]-Ziggy-

-DirTyDeeDs--Ziggy- 0 Posted August 13, 2009 well, the instructions are there at the site linked. here is a direct link to them http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Dedicated_Server this wiki describes ArmA dedicated, but ArmA2 is the same. down a few paragraphs it tells of "patching a dedicated server" my work is done here! :jesus:
xeno 234 Posted August 13, 2009 From what I've been told, you need the 1.03 client files as well. You have to update the whole game on the server like you do on a client. For example patch 1.03 altered about 7 GB. Xeno

Xeno Yeah, pretty stupid not to have dedicated server files. We don't have the game installed on our file server. It makes it difficult to run dedicated servers. RN Escobar 0 Posted August 14, 2009 agree, whole-heartedly, on my servers i run a proper install version on the C drive which can be updated by myself and all the client loads of run off a seperate drive. self installing updates are a PITA when you run multiple instances from one box, updated files should be available as a zip and just be overwritten over the originals or even run as a mod folder until finalised which would allow end users to try the updates and roll them back if required without having to re-install the entire game. SWAT_BigBear 0 Posted August 14, 2009 When you leave for work vacation, start the upload of your 1.03, when it's finished uploading, take another vaca to upload 1.4:eek:
