veraxus5 10 Posted August 11, 2009 (Not sure if this is the correct forum for this particular query, but I'll give it a whirl anyhow) Let me start by saying the game is wonderful and has been built around a solid concept. I definitely enjoy the gameplay as well as online. However, for some time something has been troubling me. To put it bluntly, I suck. And that's not to critique my skills as a gamer; rather it is the fault of the game itself. I find something rather troubling and that something is the delayed movement of the on-screen aim point. I've tried adjusting the sensitivity on the x and y axis, but it has been to no avail. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's laggy, as everything else runs smoothly, but the aim point is rather slow and I find it difficult to put the bead on a target (quickly that is). Any suggestions? Or do I just suck? :(
Bulldogs 10 Posted August 11, 2009 Try going to game options and put floating zone to 0 Other than that, try disabling Physx, set max pre-rendered frames to 1 and force V-Sync off if you can (NVidia control panel or Ati Catalyst Control Centre/Ati tray tools)
nyran125 10 Posted August 11, 2009 (edited) Also go into editor mode , create a single unit. and push Preview and see if, without ANYTHING going on around you but your guy standing there, you still have the same problem OR if the mouse moves alot smoother, I BET YOU IT DOES. If you do still have the same problem it meens you and the rest of us have computers that cant handle everything thats going on , CPU and graphic card related and try turning your video settings down to normal to increase Frame rates. Alot of the time its purely frame rate problems with mouse movement. If FPS is to low it would definately cause mouse lagg. Dont worry YOU are not the only one having this problem with Arma 1or 2. We all need better CPU's and graphics cards for this game OR Bohemia Interactive are crazy and are HUGE risk takers and need a much more optimised approach to thier game engine for thier games. I vote on better game engine than there 10 year old engine, like a completely new game engine. Same game but a new and improved "I can run on anything" game type engine would be nice so peopel can RUN the damn thing properly with todays hardware. I'm new to this and I haven't even touched editor mode :). I'm your average noobie, so keep that in mind when explaining these things. I got the part from frame rates down, but I don't understand the first thing about editor mode :(.
BeerHunter 0 Posted August 11, 2009 The editor is obnoxiously simple to use. Fire it up and press some buttons and you can easily create a simple mission. There's even an option to let ArmA create a random mission for you where you simply specify the objective. Certainly worth a try and really , the editor and third party created missions are the prime reason I have ArmA.

I have no doubt it's a useful tool as you are saying, but being so new to the game I am rather intimidated by it and would prefer to wait until I've got a hold on the game before I start firing away with the editor. Though I do appreciate your comment. :)
Deadfast 43 Posted August 11, 2009 He means that you should try if the problem is there in the editor too. Just go Singleplayer > Editor > Utes > double-click somewhere on the map > click OK to insert the standard rifleman > click Preview
BeerHunter 0 Posted August 11, 2009 Sorry - should have explained it better .. just that when you get so used to such relatively simple tasks as inserting a playing piece into the editor you tend to forget how totally confusing it is to the first timer (and yep - I had to play around quit a bit before I got even that simple task out of the way at first :D)

I’m simply appreciative of the fact that people are trying to help me. I did as you said and previewed a default rifleman in the editor mode and you were correct. I do not have any trouble there with mouse lag. So is this a good sign or a bad one?
Deadfast 43 Posted August 11, 2009 The fact that you have no problem aiming on an empty map suggests your PC is not strong enough to handle all the action going on. Did you try measuring your FPS? If not try this small addon I made.

If not try this small addon I made. I would use what you've suggested save for the fact that I'm terrible at installing mods to my games. The only game I'm every able to install mods onto is Fallout 3, and that's only because it's made simply through the FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager). It basically does the whole thing for ya. I have no doubt that it has to do with the fps, but I can't seem to figure out why my cpu can't handle this game very well. It's literally brand new and has oodles of memory and a new graphics card. Is there anything I can do to fix this mouse lag?
Deadfast 43 Posted August 11, 2009 It's not that hard, plus you have readme ;) You could also try an external program called Fraps, but I have quite a massive FPS drop when using it in ARMA2. Anyways, could you post your full system specification including what gave version you're running and what operating system you have?

Or would the following suffice? Processor: Intel® Core2 Quad CPU Q6700 @ 2.66 GHz 2.67 GHz Memory(RAM): 3.00 GB (3070MB RAM) System type: 32-bit Operating System Drivers: NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT All running an an HP with Vista + I'm running the most recent version of the game as per the download on their official site.
