bumbling_gimp 10 Posted August 7, 2009 Hi all, I upgraded my games pc rig with some serious hardware in anticipation of ARMAII... I'm now running win XP on a Phenom X4 3GHz, with 4870 X2 card and 4Gb of RAM (although being xp only 2.75Gb is reported as available). I installed the armaII demo and bunged the settings up nice and high and ran the benchmark.. and got 24 fps. Was rather disappointed. The settings I used were: visibility 3000, qual. pref very high, resolution 1600x1200 / 1600x1200. Does armaII require vista/DX10 to get best performance? Should I be upgrading to vista? Or is the demo just badly optimised? Can I expect the game itself to give me better results? Or am I just being unrealistic and these are the kind of framerates I can expect with my rig? any tips much appreciated! cheers
Kenjineering 10 Posted August 7, 2009 I don't know much about ATI cards, did you check out the ATI stickied thread? If you haven't you should :) The Arma2 demo should run quite a bit better than the actual game. Also, XP has been shown to run this game quite a lot better than vista. -TwK-Danny 0 Posted August 7, 2009 Try these settings instead: 1600x1200 / 1600x1200 Visibility 1600 or 2000 Object Detail - Normal Terrain Detail - Normal Everything else - Very High AntiAliasing - Disabled (to start with) If You get a much better score, increase your AntiAliasing setting one step and try again until you hit low fps again. Also make sure you disable Vsync ("always off") in the Catalyst Control Center.
