maximus434 10 Posted July 30, 2009 Help please! The part in Badlands when you have to attack Novy Sobor with NAPA - how is it possible to complete it? When I run through the trees towards the village, either myself or my team get killed by the Chedaki EVERY TIME. NAPA don't seem to help either. They leave the vehicles and proceed on foot, hardly helping at all. I've tried flanking the village aswell but no joy, I always get killed. Am I supposed to control the NAPA guys? Help appreciated! Slothy 10 Posted July 30, 2009 The only real way to complete it is lots of patience. There aren't really any mission specific tips i can give you, but there are some basic gameplay tips that become more important in situations where you seem stuck. -Keep to cover as much as possible (You may need to read the thread about concealment not meaning cover) -Look before you move. Then look again. Scan every square inch of open area before you decide to expose yourself. When you are done all of that, make sure you look again, just to be safe. -The AI can't see through smoke, if you get pinned pop a smoke 'nade, wait a few seconds, then fall back. -Once you fire from a position, MOVE. the AI will home in on the sound of your shots and quickly make the area a deathtrap. -Don't be afraid to save every time you think you have made some forward progress. -Learn from your deaths. If a guy with an RPG keeps killing you from behind the truck by the red building, then stop running out in to his field of fire. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
maximus434 10 Posted July 30, 2009 I understand all that, but there is a large open field between your start position and the town, with very little cover. On top of that, the town is so far away that you cannot see the Chedaki via your ironsights, only through binoculars, making it almost impossible to make kills. I can't get past this one. what i did is moved team 2 to the east along the tree line, team west (anti armor) along the tree line but back a fair so not seen, then swap weaponsfe with #2 on your team. go to a vehicle and use gear, drop your weapons, then point at the vehicle and say gear #2 (7 button i believe could be 6 sorry) and then swap your weapons. With a sniper rifle i can do a lot of damage, keeping razor team well back as the retards always get killed. then when the vehicles turn up get team 3 to advance under danger command to the small bit of cover across the field in the west section of the field. (if looking at the town its to the right) sorry is my east/west is wrong. anyways with that i then moved team 2 onto the east checkpoint and moved into town, only lost 2 guys, and team 4 came last. that's what worked for me, note i played on normal difficulty with everything turned off to make it vet CEPT unlimited saves, with how brutal the ai is, i just went nuts without unlimited saved from manhatten onwards :) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I actually finished this mission just messing around, I put two of my squadies in the armed pickup truck near where you spawn, then took the other squadie in the technical that has the tailgate up (forget the designation offhand.) After getting the second truck to follow mine I progressed down the road (not across the field), stopping every hundred feet or so to let the gunners pick of anything the new position had exposed. if bullets flew my way I jammed the gas into cover and progressed around the back side (the side away from where you spawn) of the village. I just wanted to mess around but to my surprise my guys totally raped the 'dakies doing this. maybe not a recommended tactic, but worth a laugh. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Soldier of Anarchy 10 Posted July 31, 2009 I finally got past BL. I put the babies (razor) to sleep in the woods. I then flanked using right tree line into the first town. Nabbed the right camp then moved to the main base using long buildings as cover. Held off a few men and a load of jeeps. Waited on NAPA to help out, but most never even left the top. Got control of the town, BUT, I didn't set up the apc where I was supposed to. As the other times I did follow the book I got corrupted saves and sniped by russians. I instead set up my base just under where you first spawn....The field overlooking the first town. Moved to next town and took it after a heated fight with many deaths and saves. Then sat back and collected money...I was even stripping the dead and selling their guns. Saved my game bought an air base but couldn't buy any helo's? So went back befor I bought it and got tanks instead ..2 T-72's and a BRDM. Took the next town and got assassin mission, killed the priest and took the last town.... Decerto 10 Posted August 3, 2009 I just finished this mission tonight after a few false starts during the week. Here are some tips from how I did it. -Don't bother with NAPA or high command unless you want to use them to flush out enemies so you know where they are. -First town I put 2 of my Razor's into a MG pickup and myself and the last in the other and drove around to the E of town. The AI is good on the guns and they picked off everything. -Built the base with HQ and a light vehicle factory. Built the small BMP? (the boxy one with 4 wheels) Used it from the FOB to pick off any enemy cars (about 3) that came out from town. Once they cleared loaded up Razor and drove in to finish the rest. -Built the heavy vehicle factory and built BMP-2 and took the next town easy with it. Just drive it with AI on guns. -Did the assasinate mission then easily took the last town. Strangely I encountered no tanks, thank goodness. Main thing is get a armed vehicle and pick things off at a distance and don't be afraid to retreat and come at them again from another direction. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mlenser 10 Posted August 8, 2009 How do I order the NAPA guys around? You only have a limited number under your command and quite a few that are totally AI controlled. Those that are under your command are controlled as a squad. You can alternate between Razor Team and NAPA by pressing CTRL + SPACE. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Path-x 10 Posted August 8, 2009 I picked a sniper rilfe in Manhatten mission so I could shoot them all from the hill. Well I would suggest you use the razor team. They have much better reflexes than any of us. When they get wounded you just heal them and send them forward again. :) Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
nyran125 10 Posted August 8, 2009 Man i wished this thread was stickied so everyone can just come and look at how people have done it, instead of running around saying how buggy badlands and the game is. When its not even that bad providing you follow the rules of engagement properly. Unless you have your graphics on massively high , no computer at the moment can run this game with everything maxed out and get a 60 fps consistant gameplay all the way through single player its just not possable with todays hardware at the moment. Its been future proofed to hell. Ive been playing the single game on medium, looks fine, runs ok, found out alot of the bugs i thought were bugs werent actually bugs they were actual design decisions (the developers just have a very bizarre trial and error technique, which REALLY SUX at times).
