Mobius22 10 Posted July 26, 2009 I'm new to this game and I"ve experienced some serious issues. I just bought the game but I already have issues with graphics (while playing, everything is blurry and the ground moves back and forth) and when I shoot, the sound comes before the animation of the shooting. Moving around happens a second after I push the button to execute the command. Perhaps I should have checked the specs on my computer before buying the game, but the computer, which was very high end when I bought it in 2007, seems to be having issues with the game. I probably should have searched for a solution before posting, but a quick glance showed that all fixes so far have been for Steam users or XP/Win7 users. I am running Windows Vista 32-bit (prehaps the issue lies with me using Vista). Id post my DxDiag but its too many characters. Heres the first part. no use for a name 0 Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) Your page file is extremely high...try to keep it around ~700mb by closing unnecessary programs before you play. My guess is there's something running in the background that is interfering with the game, but that's just a guess. also, what's your graphics card? and list/take a screenshot of what your in-game settings are Edited July 26, 2009 by No Use For A Name
Mobius22 10 Posted July 26, 2009 Nvidea GeForce 7950 (just above minimum, assuming that the higher number is a better card) GX2. I just installed the most recent update and havent even restarted the computer. I'm going to see how that works. Also, I'll see if shutting down Steam will help. Right before I installed ArmA2, I had been playing Empire Total War. I did not download ArmA2 over Steam.
no use for a name 0 Posted July 26, 2009 (edited) well, sorry to say but people with dual GPU processors have been having problems with this game. There are workarounds; but I don't know them off the top of my head. Search the forums or hopefully someone that knows will drop by Not saying this is your problem, but it's very likely You might also get a program like End It All or Game Booster which will close all the background programs that plague most computers and free up some memory. They're both free and legit (i.e. no malware/viruses) Edited July 26, 2009 by No Use For A Name
Mobius22 10 Posted July 26, 2009 Okay, thanks. I'm going to see how that works for me. I've also downloaded the latest game patch to see if that helps any.
Mobius22 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Now the game does play...but its jumpy and laggy. Even when the graphics are turned way down to the point where its intolerable, its the same. I'm sure this can be solved somehow; maybe Windows 7 will run it better. In the meantime, I'm just goign to put the game away and not play it. When I get a newer, better computer, I'll install it; the game seems like its worth keeping, just not on my current computer.
