General mission editor Questions

Recommended Posts

Right. Its the first time i have tried the mission editor ever and alough a little bit overwhelmed by it and not entirely sure what the outcome of some of the settings i have made I think that after a while i may get used to it, but its looking a bit frightening at the moment.

Anyhow I do have a few questions

1. How can you set up a call in air strike on a town? For instance i have set up a few a-10 planes and obviously some enemy targets but how do you program the a-10's to be the units that are needed to bomb a city?

2. This has confused me a little, I have both my enemy squads and my player squads but how do you set up an actual mission task. For instance, rather than aimlessly wandering around a map, how can you set it up that in order to complete the mission you have to kill these enemy sodiers on grid refrence A and destroy a t-72 on grid refrence B?

3. I wont even bother in asking how you set up intros and outros just yet but this one will come later.

I may have a few more questions later but for the moment these are actually my priority questions

Edit: I just realised i have put this in the wrong forum (noticed the sticky just now.) Can someone move it for me please

2A. Place a trigger around the enemies(large enough to cover the enemy area)

Set it to 'Activation' Opfor not present

'Type' end#1

Then bottom left 'Effects' then 'Type' - from the drop down menu select 'Text'

Then a field will open-Type in there your message eg-"Well done-they're all dead"

The mission will then end when all the opfor are killed within the trigger radius and your message will appear.

Be aware though this is sometimes not the best way to do things as you may get the odd enemy flee the trigger radius but it will only count the opfor within the trigger!

But its a start for learning basics in the editor!

2B. Create the T-72 - in the 'Name' field call it for eg:- tank

Now create a trigger next to it (the size of the radius can be zero, as it doesnt matter)

In the 'condition' field put:-

not (alive tank)

Same again with the 'effects' tab bottom right-"Well Done- Tank Destroyed"

I am completely new to any type of editor for any game. I found these two tutorials on youtube very helpful for setting up some quick, fun, instant action basic missions...
