krycek 349 Posted July 10, 2009 Hey guys I have this error when I'm playing in editor,it happens everytime when I save or load a savegame after an hour or so.Arma 2 is patched to 1.2. Does anyone know how to fix it or I must wait the next patch? My system: Intel Core 2 Quad 9400 2.66Ghz 4 Gb Ram Nvidia Gf 9800 GT 1gb ram with 181.22 drivers Win Xp SP3
Vanten 10 Posted July 10, 2009 Do you use the -winxp parameter while lunching ARMA 2? It’s supposed to fix errors concerning memory issues (including virtual memory) for system with > 4 gb memory. I had the same problem and after adding that parameter it solved the problem (so far).
krycek 349 Posted July 10, 2009 Thx for the suggestion, will try that and report in following days my results.

krycek 349 Posted July 11, 2009 Didn't worked with -winxp and -maxmem commands, same error after saving my game and 40-60 minutes of play. It's getting really annoying,I can't even finish my own missions.

It depends on how much memory your video card has and the texture detail/video memory settings you have in game. I was just trying to find the thread in this section that explains which setting should be used for what card you have. If I remember correctly, 512mb cards should be played on Low or Normal video memory settings, 896mb High/Very High and 1gb+ should be on Default. I wish I could find the thread, it was explained very well. I had this problem in ArmA and ArmA2 when playing real large missions I made. Then after a few years of dealing with this error I stumbled across a conversation about video memory vs. in game settings the other day. After adjusting the Video Memory and Texture Detail to Medium the game runs with out crashes now. Plus I can crank up the VD a lot higher. I think getting these 2 in-game settings tweaked correctly for the video card you have is one of the most important, non-discussed things you can do to improve performance. householddog 10 Posted July 12, 2009 Hi guys I think I might have a workaround to fix the graphics corruption issue with ATI cards. It appears, at least on my computer, that changing the Video Memory option from default to Very High (with a 1GB 4890) seems to fox the problem. I would like some testers, who have the problem, to check what their video memory is set to and let me know. Also try setting the Video Memory option to Very High (if you have a 1GB card) and see if the problems stop. The problem always seems to occur when the video memory fills up or hits the cfg limit. The best way to replicate it is in a city. Drive around, looking in all directions with very high textures on. Zoom in on things and generally soak up the graphics. Try to look at everything you can. Sorry started new thread, 3 others with similar issues. Just need to organise testers. Hard to do in 3 separate threads. I dare say setting your view distance up high might help with this. For 1GB Video cards (or 2GB SLI/Crossfire) try it with Video Memory at default and with video memory at very high. For a 512 card try Medium or even Low video memory Try it for 20 minutes on each setting and see what happens. Cheers OK looks like Arma2 does not want to use the Default settings in Video Memory. The workaround is this. For 512MB cards set memory to Medium or Low. For 1GB (or 2GB crossfire) set video memory to Very High. This will mean Arma won't use all your video memory, but it should help a few people. This one I think. Its more for graphics corruption but it's easy to try. I'm using normal settings for everything,i've even disabled the postprocessing option,my videocard has 1 Gb Ram.This is happening everytime I save or load, not when playing the game.Today I played about one and a half hour before it crashed again with that error. Indeed my missions are big but I didn't exagerate with hundreds of units and I truly hope that this isn't the problem because it sucks, why should I make smaller missions when my system can handle very well the ones I made. Since I'm not the only one with this error I hope BI will look into it.
