Helios82 10 Posted July 9, 2009 Hi everyone, I bought yesterday Arma 2, and started the campains, im now in this manhattan mission where we have to destroy the Insurgent Camps. So when i call back-up by doing 0-0-1 they tell me the boomerang team is ready to take assault on the camp...but nothing happens. They are still stuck in the woods and only shooting backup insurgents ..... AI sucks a bit for this....:( I have another question , how in hell do i get rid of this T-72 tank in the middle of their camp ?:butbut: I played all day to get this mission done i tryied all possible things.... Going with SUV .....HUMVEE got blown 4 times today.....at foot when you try to sneak on the ground they can see you.....I'm totally lost:(:( I even tried this mission in Recruit difficulty :butbut: Thanks in advance for your help
Dilligaf 10 Posted July 10, 2009 I had the same problem with boomerang, they tell you they are there and ready but i could not find out how to contact them. Try calling in HE artillery to clear the camp, that worked for me.
mcnools 62 Posted July 10, 2009 I killed all their infantry, then I couldn't kill the tank, so I went back to Manhattan and got myself an APC with armour piercing rounds, and went all the way back again .haha
voodoochile1234 10 Posted July 11, 2009 Yeah this sucked. I couldn't get any help from Boomerang, and I had no HE artillery option either. I thought about going back to the main camp to get a tank or something but I was scared that Boomerang might die or something and the mission might fail. In the end I just killed all the guys really slowly and painstakingly with lots of dying and reloading. When they were all dead, I found rocket launchers on the dead bodies and I peaked out from behind the stationary APC type thing, and I shot the tank and the enemy APC that was patrolling the area. With those dead it was mission over. It's a shame because it could have been fun if it was... a bit different.
oxblood85 10 Posted July 11, 2009 Same here: NO artillery , NO help from Boomerang , NO success trying clean the camp by foot (the tank always win). after 2 hours I quited and decided to never play the campaign again till next patch. what a waste of 50$
BlackAlpha 10 Posted July 11, 2009 I used the UAV to clear all armor on the map. Activate UAV view. Press Q to change altitude to 400 (so it hopefully won't crash but if it's too high, you won't get a lock on the enemy), press S to change speed to 200 (slowest) and then open the map and click on the map. Once you click on the map, you'll see a few waypoints that the UAV will follow. Try to place the waypoints in such a way that the UAV will fly directly over the target. Press F to switch to missiles. Thing is that you can only lock on vehicles that are directly in front of the UAV and if they are too low in your view, you won't be able to get a lock, so flying very high and looking down at a steep angle won't work. Once you got a lock, fire away. That's how I cleared the map of all enemy armor. I also spotted the main camp with the UAV and used it to place a marker at the main camp's position (B button in UAV view). Then I called in arty directly on top of the marker and blew the whole base to hell. But I think the arty might have bugged the whole mission...
oxblood85 10 Posted July 11, 2009 how do I use the UAV ? I mean how do I get to this?
vinpower 10 Posted July 11, 2009 eehm UAV?? I have no UAV at the base wth..
BlackAlpha 10 Posted July 11, 2009 how do I use the UAV ? I mean how do I get to this? At FOB Manhatten there's a trailer where you can access the UAV. It's behind Captain Shaftoe's desk. You can identify the trailer by the satellite dish on it's roof. Get close to it and an action called "UAV" will popup in your actions menu.

BlackAlpha 10 Posted July 11, 2009 (edited) thank you! but Call me a noob.. I set the tank as a target, but how does that thing shoot?Edit: I know how to shoot, but my missles never hits the target! how does this thing work? First of all, you must get a lock on the target. Simply use the "next target" button, which is by default the TAB button. When you see a BOX around the target, that means you've selected that enemy as a target. Now you must wait until there's a diamond or circle (I forgot how it exactly looks like) on top of the box to get a full lock. If the diamond or circle is not there, your vehicle is unable to get a lock. As soon as your vehicle is in the right position the diamond or circle will appear over the box and then when you fire, the missile will almost always hit the target, even if you remove the lock after firing it. Most vehicles can lock on things at insane angles but the UAV is very picky about the correct angle. I guess this is more realistic because, for example, in choppers I always used to lock on a target, then turn around and fly away; while flying away the lock would remain, even though I couldn't see the target anymore and then I would fire the missile, which makes an 180 turn and hits the target somewhere far away behind me. This isn't possible in the UAV. Read my previous comment on how to get a lock successfully. UAV must be facing the enemy and it must be looking at it at a certain angle. If the angle is too steep, you won't be able to get a lock. Try flying lower (around 200 meters) and make sure the UAV flies directly towards the target. But be careful! The AI in this game is a bit bad, at low altitudes the AI will often crash the UAV. I suggest you turn infinite saves on and save your game before using the UAV because I've seen the AI do horrible, horrible things; things like making a dive to gain speed, which sounds smart but it's a VERY bad idea at an altitude of 200 meters. vinpower 10 Posted July 12, 2009 thank you, I was always flying at 300 attitude. I think thats why I couldn't lock the target. I just shot one apc but that t-72 is a hard target. I can't get a good angle to hit him!:butbut:
