Lostlogic 10 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) Does anyone know that when you are the commander what key or action you use to turn the mobile HQ into a semi-permanent one (aka deploy it)? The AI commander can deploy it in 1ms if they are the commander so I know there are no pre-requisites required. I (we) tried the action spinner, the communications panel, every option on the map, etc. All the instructions say are to use your action spinner. Via that all you get is "Lock HQ" and "Unlock HQ". There is nothing present about deploying it. Ideas? Edited July 9, 2009 by Lostlogic
Väinämöinen 0 Posted July 9, 2009 You have to be the commander, if you are not then use vote menu in map screen. Construction menu appears and you can deploy MHQ.
Lostlogic 10 Posted July 9, 2009 You have to be the commander, if you are not then use vote menu in map screen. Construction menu appears and you can deploy MHQ. We were the commander (were trying on both sides.) You have no option via the spinner menu to deploy the HQ. The only time it every worked (we tried the mission over a dozen times) was when we let the AI commander start the base and then we took over as commander. Do you have to let the AI start the base first?
Desiderius 0 Posted July 9, 2009 in crCTI you must not deploy the MHQ just start building some structures and you establish your first base. Greetings
Väinämöinen 0 Posted July 9, 2009 You always start as subordinate and after vote become the commander. Usually AI comm doesn't deploy base right away. And if you are playing crCTI then selected slots determine who will be the commander.
Lostlogic 10 Posted July 9, 2009 You always start as subordinate and after vote become the commander. Usually AI comm doesn't deploy base right away. In the "Utes Welcome to War" mission the AI commander will vote himself in (if you don't have your team vote you instead,) and will deploy the HQ literally within 1 millisecond. He then starts to build the light vehicle factory, barracks, etc. If you take over from the AI post-deployment, then you can build whatever you want and have the "Defense" and "Base" options. If you vote yourself in first though before the game starts you only ever get the "Defense" option to build structures. How do you deploy the HQ so you can get the "Base" options? We had 8+ guys on last night trying to figure it out.
Väinämöinen 0 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) In SP: You have to take over AI comm. After that you can undeploy the MHQ and drive where you want and deploy base again. In MP: You have to be voted commander. As commander you have to be inside MHQ's building radius and you get Construction option. In construction options you will find build (and defences) menu and there is deploy/undeploy the MHQ. Edited July 9, 2009 by Väinämöinen

Where is the MHQ build radius? The AI does it immediately as commander. When I am the commander, and in the exact same place, I have no such option as deploy? The AI Commander does it from the starting position, he does not move the HQ vehicle an inch but somehow deploys it and starts building the base.

I didn't try last night because I wasn't commander. Just tried now and you're right. Works as described. Must have been a problem with our n00b commanders last night ;) Either that or there's a bug when you have 2 human sides playing.

"Insert diety of choice here" knows that we tried for hours. Edit: Nevermind, apparently it does not work when you have two human commanders. See the next post. SG_Smokintodd 0 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) We just tried it with two human controlled commanders, 1 red, 1 blue. Neither of us could deploy it. I'm thinking its gotta be bugged but strange how no one has mentioned this before. However, once we did let the AI commander deploy it, we were able to pack it up and had the option to re-deploy it. I should mention this was all done on our dedicated server. We just tried again but this time I hosted on my machine. I was able to deploy but the other guy as commander for his team didn't have the option. Something very wrong here.
