GTO 10 Posted July 9, 2009 Hi folks, Admittedly my system is a little old but it still meets the minimum requirements for the game. Can someone have a look at the vid I’ve posted and maybe suggest what’s going on, I'm having this problem even when all settings are on low. Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7Ao2f5DwxM My basic specs AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800 2gb Ram ATI Radeon X1950 Pro
thr0tt 12 Posted July 9, 2009 Reduce Texutures to low, change AGP Aperture in BIOS to 512MB and see how you get on. Also, look at the sticky as this is the same problem as HD3xxx, HD4xxx cards too on 'some' systems.
f2k sel 164 Posted July 9, 2009 My 1900xt went the same way, I replaced the stock cooler and it was fine for a few months before it started again. It also only happened in a few games.
GTO 10 Posted July 27, 2009 Changing the apeture to 512 seems to have worked but I think an upgrade is in order. Can anyone tell me what the best AGP card is? I know AGP is outdated but I'm not buying a whole new PC just to get better graphics. Thanks.
brad72 10 Posted July 29, 2009 Glad you got a fix to your problem. The last time that type of problem happened to me it was heat related. If i took the side panel off the pc and blew a fan on the graphics card, the artifacting went away. As for a fast AGP card, something like the ATI Radeon HD3850 is still good bang for buck. ChiefBoatsRet 10 Posted July 29, 2009 the 3850 is the highest card you can get for AGP , sorry but AGP is all but forgotten now.
Rexxenexx 0 Posted July 29, 2009 I have a GTX285 and I have a similar problem.Vid I don't think upgrading to another AGP card will be worth your cash/trouble. Just wait until you have enough for a new comp.
-TwK-Danny 0 Posted July 29, 2009 I actually had this problem yesterday. I restarted the game and it never happend again. I played 1hour of crysis to make sure its not my GPU having problems. Try using the flush command, ingame hold shift while pressing minus (-) then just type "flush" and your screen should turn black for some seconds. Try not using the "default" option for video memory, and keep the setting one step higher than texture detail. For example if you use normal textures, have video memory set to high (i think the game defaults to this). Also try reducing agp aperture size to 256 (was it at 256 you had problems?). Do you have the latest legacy drivers? Catalyst 9.3.1? Get them here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
nyran125 10 Posted August 1, 2009 that issue there, i use to get HEAPS, with certain games like Gothic 3, Crysis i got that issue aswell so it doesnt surprise me your getting these in ARMA 2, it doesnt do this with all games but theres a big solution for the future with Ati cards and its Catalyst. Thats a Catalyst problem, i guarentee if you install your display drivers for Ati, BUT DONT INSTALL THE CATALYST from Ati just the display driver, the main driver only ,those graphic problems will be gone. Getting rid of the Catalyst drivers to play certain games, got rid of those graphic split problems , Crysis included. Try it , it will work. I never got an ATI card ever again after that.
