switch 10 Posted July 3, 2009 (edited) Hi guys, When loading into a map, my screen will constantly flicker black and white. Dazzles your eyes when your playing late at night in the dark and gets a little frustrating. I have made sure any Nvidia drivers I need have been updated and have checked my hardware to make sure nothing is faulty. Although when I disable SLI and run off one card, the flicker runs away. I'm running dual 8800GT's with dualcore AMD 6000+ CPU + maxed out ram for XP 32 bit and game runs fine with 60+ FPS all on 'high' settings. Is anyone experiencing the same problem at all or knows how to fix this blinding problem? Cheers Switch Edited July 3, 2009 by Switch
datter 0 Posted July 3, 2009 I get that exact same thing while "Receiving...". Black/white/black/white/black/white and yes it's a bit annoying. The only way I found to fix that is to lower my 3d resolution once step below what I usually run at (1680x1050). For some reason this makes the black/white flicker go away, although it also means I'm playing at a lower resolution of course. So far I've been putting up with the flickering while loading but you know, that slightly lower res (1440x900 or whatever it is) really doesn't look bad with full AA turned on. Things are a bit soft perhaps, but not bad and there's a performance boost too.
B-oodThorn 10 Posted July 3, 2009 Hopefully the next nvidia drivers will support Arma 2 and fix the flashing in SLI.
cjsoques 0 Posted July 3, 2009 This is an issue that BIS never fixed from ARMA1 Basically my solution was to sell my two SLI cards and get one better single card :) lost a few dollars but got great stability and performance in both ARMA1 and ARMA2 after that. Basically SLI is more or less FUBAR unless you have the same exact config the BIS guys had when they tested the game in SLI config. I can be fairly certain this bug will not be fixed anytime soon
-=seany=- 5 Posted July 4, 2009 It's more of an nvidia problem than a BIS problem. Sli worked great in Arma1 until Nvidia released the 18x.xx drivers, then we got the flashing. They fixed it a few months later, after everyone had figured out to use crysis.exe instead. The flashing in Arma2 when loading is a bit annoying, but I'm just thankful it doesn't do it in game. Only Nvidia can fix this, they still have yet to release an official driver that has an Arma2 sli profile so maybe they'll fix it then. Although, I imagine they will probably just incorporate EVGA's profile.

UNN 0 Posted July 4, 2009 The flashing in Arma2 when loading is a bit annoying, but I'm just thankful it doesn't do it in game. I got this when trying out different SLI rendering modes with nHancer. Can't rememeber which mode off hand, just use nHancer to find a mode that gives you comprable FPS and no flashing.
switch 10 Posted July 4, 2009 Thanks all, I guess the best thing to do is to lower my resolution slightly and wait for another nvidia driver then eh? =] Cheers Switch
GunRage 10 Posted July 4, 2009 Switch, Don’t know if this will help you, i have similar hardware, but with Vista 64bit, checkout Dwarden’s “ NVIDIA video card(s) owners read here! “ thread, It helped me.
switch 10 Posted July 4, 2009 Ah, everything on that page I have already checked up on without ever seeing it ;) PhysX disabled + EVGA enhancement + a little overclocking. But thanks for the tip GunRage :) Switch
