Getting a playable EMPTY helicopter...

So how would I go about placing down an EMPTY UH1 Helicopter that I can fly. Whenever I choose Side: Empty then scroll to Air and pick the UH1 and start the mission all it lets me do is man the guns or sit as a passenger. Then when I go back to my editor it says its "Non playable"

I need an empty chopper to transport my troops!

Go to the other side of the chopper, the "enter as pilot" option should be available ;)

Nope, only lets me gun, or ride passenger :(

When you place the uh1 did you put it on " unlocked? "

The UH1Y may be bugged or something... Its not that it wont open: you CAN fly it if you place an empty UH1 on the map, its just that there is a tiny narrow area in the front-side of the helo you have to activate to be the pilot. Everything else, no matter where you try from, will only allow you to be gunner or spotter. Yes, even the right hand pilot side will only give you gunner as a choice (pilot is hidden near it). Once you're in the gunner/spotter seats, you cant even change to the pilot seat!

Its very easy to miss.
