I spent years wondering if I missied something about this untill I came to the conclusion that you can't, I think. No, I'm almost certain you can't....maybe.

Altough, if you become squad member 2,3 or 4 (which you can select from the menu), the leader can then call in his location. I find that very strange...

Why do you need it though? To get the AI to move to you - just click in front of you. If its in MP - just tell the other guys over VOIP or TS. :)

Because in single player, the leader doesnt say "move to grid bla bla", he says "move 1000m north" (and im pretty sure its in relation to the leaders current position. So then the lost squad member doesnt know what

1000m north is in relation to the leaders (or squad) position, so he just sits there and asks, "what is your position".

Well, with AI the "Where are you?" message should be more understood like "I'm far behind, wait a little" ;)

Yeah, people got confused about this from ArmA1. When the AI say "Where are you?" they don't actually want to have you reply with your location, they are saying that while in formation they've lost track of you.

The solution is to get them back into "capturable" range via a direct move order and then a return to formation. BIS does not always have the best grasp on the English language when it comes to these things.

When you say a direct move order do you mean, select squad member, point at a location and tell him to move, because even when I was doing that he would just be still. Maybe its a bug...its happening on the campaign.

But it should be possible to give out your grid position in the full game version - I was told that this option got cut out of the demo - not sure if it was Dwarden who said it while we used to be playing on his server.

I have the full game and I can tell you there is no button to reply with and from my experience with ofp and arma1 is they didn’t have them ether. Just give them a move order that what I do.

Also atm there is a bug which makes your AI stand where they are and be unresponsive.

Yeah, the only way I can get round that bug is to take over the control of the squaddy.

When they ask "Where are you" you are simply out of range for them to stay in your formation. They are too far away, or you ran ahead too far. You don't reply to them, all you do is simply select that member and then point to your feet or anywhere you want them near to you (your selection is the reply IE: im near here/im here, go over to hear), or select map and say where you want them to be. You will get "Roger" or words to that effect.

Once they are in range (near enough to you) simply get them to return to formation and they are back in place. Same with Arma1.

They dont want your actual location, just where you want them to be becuase they are lost ... bless em. :)

Yeah, I mean whatever gets them back in range so they know where you are enough that when you say "Return to Formation" they do it successfully.

Badlands at the beginning? Yeah that's a known bug where they don't budge. Don't worry, once you capture the first town and the cutscene plays for the HQ APC you get control over them again. Just hope the APC doesn't run you over in the cutscene!
