are the developers themselves able to run this flawless?

I'm just curious whether the developers themselves are able to run ArmA 2 with no issues especially the FPS issues. If not, what kind of hardware do they have?

I'm not a developer but I can run it flawlessly on Windows 7 32bit and Vista 32 bit

HW;

E7300 (stock)

Asus P5K/EPU

Asus E9800GT (stock)

4gb Gingle RAM

Creative XFi-ExtremeGamer Audio card

Sata and IDE drives (many of them)

Tested on both German retail DVD and Steam English

you mean you do not experience any FPS performance issues? are you getting constant FPS in all areas of the map?

I think the only people who run this without problems are people running at 1024x768, but even then I question that. I get the game to run but FPS start to decline for no reason. Anyone else experience this or do people just think the scene is getting more complex or something? Maybe its not as noticeable to someone running the game at lower resolutions running at 200FPS. The FPS dropping from 200 to 100 wouldn't be a problem now would it? Now for people running 2560x1600 like me, going from 50 to 21 or 15 sucks ass. I'll be out in the open getting good frames with vsync off and just when you get happy that it's running fine, the FPS drop for no reason at all. None.

Yes I have noticed the FPS degradation as well. As when I start out a map fresh on a server with 50 people. Running around 40-50 FPS steady @1920x1200 most on High some on VH. An hour later I will be at the same base with the same amount of players and the game is absolutely crawling at 10-15 FPS and sometimes less.

I love the OP's original question though. Thats the first thing I thought when I started playing. You would think, "Oh this is fun", or "Nice", or "I can't wait to start playing this". NO, NO, NO!!! My first thought was "Hmm, where are the textures?", "Hmm what is going on with this game?", "Hmm, why do the triggers in the single player missions not work and I get stuck in the same place for 30 minutes even though I have completed the objectives on THE FIRST FREAKING MISSION!!!".

If I spend $50 on a game, the first experience I have should not be...."hmmm how do I fix this brand new game I just bought"......or......"Maybe its still in beta....it sure looks and feels like its in beta....not even close to finished...."

I mean honestly WHAT PC's IS THIS GAME BEING TESTED ON?!!??

What rez and settings are you running at?

Sorry, forgot to mention it.

Running at 1280x1024 (old 19" LCD) which could explain why i don't get the problems.

On medium settings I get a constant 40-45 fps, in heavy dense areas with a lot of fx (like fog) I go down to 30-40 (which is understandable considering the amount of load)

On high/vhigh settings I get 22-29fps (18-24 in heavy load areas)

That said, whenever my framerate drops 'cause of a heavy dense area, it go's back up once I leave that area.

I'll steal my mates monitor and test it out at 1920 (but I'm only running at 9800gt so I don't expect very good frame rates at any settings)

That said, upgrading a 4870 soon so I'll post if I get any heavy changes once that happens.

People are always assuming everyone has the same problems they have.. remember people without problems generally don't post in the troubleshoots section of forums!

I have no problems.. running at 1680 x 1050 all settings very high - fps varies from 20 - 35. on a Nvidia 260, cpu: Intel E8400 @ 3 Ghz, 4 GB Ram (1066) on Win7 (x64) RC

I found playing in windowed mode reduced any fluctuation in fps.

i've yet to see anyone with constant FPS whether in or out of built up areas.

If you mean a constant frame rate in built up and non-built up areas, then you may be thinking about 20 years in the future when we're working with Customized Quantum computers.

A lower frame rate in a built up area is due to there being heavy use of the Hardware in that area. If that wasn't the case then we could run a perfect framerate on a budget card (I dream of that day :))

So if you're getting say 40 fps in a low load area and around 28ish in a high dense area, then I wouldn't worry too much, that's just the way it works.

If you are getting a constant low framerate no matter what vid settings you use then the bottleneck is most likely with your CPU.

If you are getting random spikes in FPS then try lowering your view distance.

If you are having trouble running 40+ FPS constantly with settings maxed out on a very high resolution, then I would worry since I don't think there's a machine capable of doing that.

(but sad to say that nobody has even a constant low framerate now)

the issue now is that the frame drop is too huge. close to 40 - 50 % drop. which is too much.

i would rather have a lower constant and more stable frame rate of 25-30+ fps than have a huge frame drop from 40 to 20+ fps.

That is a large drop. I'd suggest lowering the object detail, that should fix the issue until you can buy a new card.

Absolutely no performance related issues here or any kind of FPS drop.

I'm slightly concerned that someone running an i7 with 12gb ram and triple sli 280s is only running 3km view distance. What happens when you turn it up?

I've had it at 5K and it was fine, When I'm not doing aerial stuff I never put it past 3K as there is no need.
