Fabregas 10 Posted July 1, 2009 Hi, I'm thinking about getting into MP prematurely I feel, but with SP bugs etc making it unplayable at times I don't think I have much choice. Basically I'm looking for any beginner tips, like which servers and mission types are best to learn on. I do like to be a team player so I would prefer servers with a good community that isn't a free for all for egos, and who don't mind helping out the "n00b" Any tips or advice from you guys would be great though. Thanks in advance
Mark XIII (DayZ) 18 Posted July 1, 2009 Practice in the editor mate, well worth it for co-op play later on..Like taking out tanks with different weapons at varying distances. Then the next time your team goes up against some tanks they got a specialist onsite ;) Same with driving & flying skillz, can come in very handy too. If your planning on going up against mainly AI (in co-op) then getting stuck into the editor is perfect practice imo :) Hope that helps some :)
CarlGustaffa 4 Posted July 2, 2009 Look for clan admins present. State to them that you are new to the game, and ask them what to do. That will most likely keep you from being kicked or banned if you do mess up something. Simply by asking they will take notice that this one is a team player, instead of someone with too much suicidal ego. You'll be a much easier person to forgive for doing mistakes, as long as you at least try, unlike too many other new players who is just looking for a BF2 experience with new weapons. And yes, do practice in the editor, especially things that take a bit of time to get used to such as tank gunnery or flying.
walker 0 Posted July 2, 2009 Hi all As always Join a clan; this section of the forum: http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=90 gives a directory list of them in a stickied post at the top! And many of the clans have made separate threads about them selves, in there giving more details. You will get the best info on a clan by visiting their website and asking to Lurk on their Teamspeak channel. Your next best option is to join a clan adminned public recruiting server. Clans use these to recruit from and to train potential players in their clan ethos. So they will offer you a spot if they see your a good team player. Pick a role and prove your worth. High scores are not what gets you a clan spot. They are always looking for people who are team players not Rambo's, such people loose complex missions and get their buddies killed which as many play zero or limited respawn makes such a total liability. Don't get dragged into the TK fests just ignore they are seeking attention so do not give it them. Also the Clans log all TKs on their public servers for the ban lists so it is a fast way of reducing the places you can play to un-adminned servers without even signature checks or even cheaters own crap servers. If you make it through recruitment then you get to play on the clans private and hidden servers where you get better pings less lag and much better team play as well as aceess to future inter clan challenge wars! Kind Regards walker
