nominesine 0 Posted July 1, 2009 I tried to patch my game from 1.02 to the 58134-build version, wich seems to have worked just fine. With one exception. The startup screen now says 1.02 58134. But I still havent recieved the option to switch on anti aliasing in the settings. That leads me to suspect that only part of the patch worked correctly. I would prefer to avoid a complete reinstall of ArmA2. Is it possible (and adviceable) to apply the same patch a second time? Will it make any difference? Is there another solution to the problem? .kju 3244 Posted July 1, 2009 Try to move arma2.cfg and your arma2profile to an another folder to let them generated again and merge back your settings (use a diff tool).
nominesine 0 Posted July 1, 2009 Try to move arma2.cfg and your arma2profile to an another folder to let them (be) generated again. This part I almost understand ;) If I comprehend you correctly it doesn't matter if I move the aforemented file/folder, because they will be recreated automatically when I create a new user in game. Correct? Merge back your settings (use a diff tool). This part I don't understand at all. What is a diff tool?
.kju 3244 Posted July 1, 2009 Yes the game automatically generates default files for both. It may happen that a profile gets corrupted or not correctly updated over time/from patching. ie compareIt If you didn't change your controls etc, you don't need it. It only saves you time if you had to reconfigure everything again.
nominesine 0 Posted July 1, 2009 It only saves you time if you had to reconfigure everything again. Roger that. Thanks for the help. I'll try it out tonight.
nominesine 0 Posted July 2, 2009 Nope. It didn't work. Neither did applying the patch again. I still can't switch on anti aliasing. The only option available to me is "Disabled". The startup screen still says I have version 1.02.58134 installed, and the game is MP compatible with the patch. I'm puzzled.
Bulldogs 10 Posted July 2, 2009 In my case I had to reinstall Arma 2 then patch it up with 1.02.58134 from scratch (no other patches)
nominesine 0 Posted July 2, 2009 In my case I had to reinstall Arma 2 then patch it up with 1.02.58134 from scratch (no other patches) I feared that much. I'll wait to see if the 1.03 patch solves the problem before I do a full reinstall though. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?
.kju 3244 Posted July 2, 2009 you can also activate aa in the arma2.cfg yourself: FSAA=1;
nominesine 0 Posted July 2, 2009 you can also activate aa in the arma2.cfg yourself:FSAA=1; Why didn't I think of that?? :banghead: I suppose I can open it will a normal text editor, right?
Bulldogs 10 Posted July 2, 2009 Yep, notepad works fine.
nominesine 0 Posted July 3, 2009 Nope, that didn't solve the problem. FSAA reverts back to 0 as soon as I open the game. Bugger
Jaguarius 14 Posted July 3, 2009 I have problem with that build too ... The game just freeze after 2-3 min. of playing ... nothing help. Tired reinstall ...
nominesine 0 Posted July 15, 2009 Two questions... 1) Problem persists, so I'll repeat my first question: Can I apply patch Patch 1.02.58134 a second time, although the in-game GUI claims that I am already running version 1.02.58134 (wich I am clearly not since I still cannot switch on Anti Aliasing) 2) Could my aged graphic card be the problem that prevents me from enabling the disabled AA-feature? I have an Nvidia GeForce 9700 GS (256 Mb). As a side note: The aforementioned card lets me play the game on low/normal settings and 2500 meter viewdistance. It runs fine, apart from the AA-problem. Bulldogs 10 Posted July 15, 2009 For question 1, very hard to answer and you're better off reinstalling then installing a fresh patch over the top. For Question 2, there's a chance that could be the cause, but as a side note, if you are running an older card (like the 9700 GS) then you shouldn't attempt to enable AA as it will lower your performance by a lot (especially with older cards)
nominesine 0 Posted July 16, 2009 if you are running an older card (like the 9700 GS) then you shouldn't attempt to enable AA as it will lower your performance by a lot (especially with older cards) Point taken. But I still don't like the fact that I should be able to enable AA (theoretically speaking) and finding out the the aforementioned patch didn't give me what it apparently gave everybody else. Damn I'd forgotten just exactly how buggy these BI games could be. Still love 'em though. Bugs or no bugs :)
