Where to buy in the USA? (and a Steam question)

Hey,

I know Arma 2 has released in the USA, but nobody seems to be carrying it until 7/7/09. Anyone know of a place to buy it? I see it is available on Steam, but it seems like the patches developed for Arma 2 aren't compatible for the Steam version. Why would anyone buy it off of steam if Bohemia isn't going to support it?

You can't patch the Steam version using the standalone patches, duh..

You must be new to Steam. Games on steam get patched automatically - you don't need to apply any patch manually at all. Bohemia is in charge of publishing the patch updates to steam.

oh alright. So if I purchase the steam version, Bohemia will patch it automatically? I'm assuming the Steam download is already patched up to 1.02 then?

Yeps, its at 1.02 now.

Note: Steam version is English only. If you're looking for multiple language versions (eg French), go for the retail dvd one by 505 games.

You can also try and download the demo before you buy ARMA 2.

I have a question about the Steam version. How do you enable user-made addons with Steam? Where do the folders go? Where do I put the "-@usermod" extension?

Other d/l options are Direct2Drive and Nexway.

Steam's desire to control things just never sat quite right with me.

Nexway limits to three installs, I think. Not sure about Direct2Drive.
