Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi, I've been wondering if you can fly jets in multiplayer. The manual says there's a special hangar to access them but I can't seem to find it. How do I access this hangar at the airstrip/ airfield of which they say?
sirex 0 Posted June 30, 2009 if you mean warfare mod, yes theres an aircraft factory. if you mean other missions, it depends on the mission. But yes, you can fly online (the best way). - make sure someone is laser designating your targets though.
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 hmmm... what about in superpower game mode? and is it possible to get jets without the mod?? and I can only purchase Helos from the aircraft factories.....
bwc153 10 Posted June 30, 2009 Well.. i dont really know, but someone set up a 2nd base at an aircraft hanger (actual hanger on the map that we DIDNT build) on our team yesterdy, and was flying an A-10 around.. sadly i was off 5 miles away attacking the flag next to enemies base on foot. so i didnt get to see what they were doing. I only got to see an A-10 fly a few thousand meters away.
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 Does it applies to every map or just 1 of them? So all I have to do is just set up a base...? I dont need to get the aircraft factory?
Inkompetent 0 Posted June 30, 2009 How you get jets and if there are jets at all is up to each specific mission. Superpowers, Domination, Evolution, Warfare... All got it done in their own way.
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 I see......:) But what are the requirements to have access to them say hmmm superpower game mode? (any building needed? etc) oh and does the armoury unlock weapons usable online (just wondering ,side question)?
whisper 0 Posted June 30, 2009 "Superpower" is a map. You access it by connecting to a server running it ;) armory has no impact on online availability of anything :)
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 haha right... what about teh requirements of accessing the jets?
whisper 0 Posted June 30, 2009 I've not seen that part of the map yet :( I usually fly choppers, I don't know how it works for planes in Warfare ("Superpower" is a Warfare-type map)
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 I thought warfare was a mod?...
whisper 0 Posted June 30, 2009 a "game mode" or "game type", like CTF, DeathMatch, etc.... A concept, in fact :) "Civil Wars", "Superpowers" are both Warfare games.
walker 0 Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) Hi Gryfalcon No Warfare is just a type of Mission in ArmA. What other games call "Maps" are called missions in ArmA. Missions are created in the missions editor. Scripts and functions, are created with scripting editors or even notepad. AI capabilities are created with FSM editors. Though there are more complex tools. Addons are things like vehicles and avatars/entities/soldiers, islands and config changes. They are created using various external tools. The official tools are listed here. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/Category:Tools Vehicles, objects and entities are created in tools like Oxygen. Islands are created in tools like Visitor. Etc. MODS in ArmA are monolithic collections of vehicles and avatar/entity/soldiers, config changes etc, collected around a theme such as: the increased reality of ACE, or the wars of a particular era such as WWII or the Vietnam war, or SciFi projects or Napoleonic era. All change the way ArmA works in a very significant way and are thus acclaimed as a MOD. MODs are always run from a MOD folder via a separate shortcut. You never change the core files of ArmA. That will trigger the anti pirate anti cheat software that some call "FADE". Instead as I said, you use MOD folders which safely supplant and add to ArmA functions and capabilities. Over time you will end up with 10s of MODs and thousands of addons in ArmA. Your MOD folders will take over a significant percentage of your hard drive. 20% of my Hard Drive is ArmA I MODs and addons. The Warfare section in in the back of the ArmA Manual. You can always practice Warfare the same as any other multi player game, in single player mode by hosting it on your own locked client/server in LAN mode. If "Superpowers" is a user made version of Warfare then you need to ask the mission maker for the manual. Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 hmm this applies to Arma 2 right? cause I am alittle confused ....
walker 0 Posted June 30, 2009 hmm this applies to Arma 2 right? cause I am alittle confused .... yes to some extent. Check in the ArmA 2 editing forum http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=92 Scripting changes are already available, Marek posted up a new scripting reference. And since they along with config changes are done in standard script editors such as notepad they should cause nor major problem. Though ArmA Edit will need an update for the new commands. PBO compression seems to be about the same. There are some additions to the tools to use them on ArmA II but it appears ArmA II has significant backward compatibility with ArmA I hence why we are seeing ArmA I addons and islands being converted already. The biggest changes are new entity models' s you need to rename and add a lot of points in them and UV maps. The new tools are not out yet but with ArmA's history of modding I would not expect too long a wait. Kind Regards walker
Gryfalcon 10 Posted June 30, 2009 So there's no way for me to fly in multiplayer using the default settings (without mods)? Cause I tried build a base with an air factory in an airfield and airstrip and I still havent get a jet for the "superpower"

A coop or Domination or Longest Day as a pilot for instance. You are not tied to only playing one mission. There are lots of servers playing lots of missions; choose one that alows you play as a pilot from the start. Many play 5 or 6 different missions every day. I suggest you contact the maker of the "Superpowers?" mission you are playing for the manual. Kind Regards walker Edited June 30, 2009 by walker

walker 0 Posted June 30, 2009 Hi Gryfalcon If you do not want to make your own missions then you need to download one some one else has made. That is in fact what most people and many servers do. :) There is a whole section of the forum devoted to this; as well as links in those pages to websites that specialise in hosting libraries of user missions for download. http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86 I would suggest that you may want to look at this one http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?t=73993 As it appears to be well supported and has its own thread where you can ask how it works.
