Bigtnaples 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Well my friend whom bought ArmA 2 on steam and gifted me it on steam is having some major issues. I built his computer, his rig is as follows. q9550 4870 1gb 8GB ram Vista 64 bit He has the latest Cat 9.6 drivers. His game for some reason, looks like this. I remote accessed his PC and all of his catalyst settings and such are set up correctly. His computer is completely def-ragged. I verified the game cache in steam. Everything is as it should be. Also we tested his other steam games and they all look normal. Please help ASAP. Thanks in advance.
Gonzo89 10 Posted June 27, 2009 It's an issue with the 8GB RAM. I believe it's fixed in the hotfix, but that isnt out for Steam users yet.

Bulldogs 10 Posted June 27, 2009 I've seen a similar issue when accidently installing the 32bit catalyst drivers under vista 64 bit, other than that, I'm not sure what the issue is (other than it being texture based) but I'd suggest lowering the textures to see if there's any improvement, and possibly verifying the installation to make sure the files aren't corrupt. And if worst comes to worst, the good ol' ATI driver removal to clear the drivers out then install the latest drivers again. If that doesn't work then run the driver removal again and try older catalyst drivers.
Gonzo89 10 Posted June 27, 2009 The 1.2.5 patch is out for Steam Users already? Is that the hotfix? Or is it something different. That's what I meant, but reading the release notes it doesn't seem to be the exact fix I was thinking of. I havent personally had the issue, I only know that its caused by the 8GB. How to get round it, someone eles will have to tell you. Here's a previous thread on the matter.

Bigtnaples 10 Posted June 27, 2009 Hm so typing "-WinXp" in the .exe apparently works. I will try it out in a bit, unfortunately in a last ditch effort I deleted the game off his HD and now am reDownloading it. :-\ However will there be an actual fix for this? Patch wise? If a dev could answer that would be great. Thanks again.
Bulldogs 10 Posted June 27, 2009 The issue happened with other games in the past and each time Microsoft released an update shortly after so if you keep windows up to date it may help.
